^ Graphics drivers probably. Had the same issue before, updated drivers and it was fixed.
Im using the latest drivers......

I also have the benchmark and lowering the game from 1920x1080 to 1270x720 boosted average fps from 35 to 66.........

:|

Noting that the benchmark isn't really reflective of the games crappy performance anyways.

Changing from 1080p to 720p in the trial brought battles from 15 fps to 25 fps........this is just sad.

Xblade specs? Just get it on the xbox 360 then. However if you dont have that either, stick with the pc version and just upgrade. The pc versions is vastly superior to the 360 one.

All of my specs are above and beyond the recommended requirements for the game. (6 gig ram quad core etc.)

The graphics card is the obvious bottleneck, a Radeon 4850.

With this same card I can get consistent 50-60 fps at 1080p in all other games I have. Even Crysis performs better at high settings then TLR.

but yeah
here are the specs.

AMD Athlon II X4 635(2.9 ghz)
6 gig ram
HD Radeon 4850
Windows 7 64 bit

Simple...the game hates ATi

Lowering the character shadow setting to medium showed a good fps boost 25-30 fps in battle now at 1080p.

I don't know if some of the people in those threads are blind but turning off the character shadows completely has a huge impact on the games visual fidelity as characters look flat without them.

This is why i will always go Nvidia, no matter what...

Nvidia is underhanded.

nuff said.
They're not, they're just not as lazy as ATi that's why all the TWIMTBP games exist. They're not instead of running nicely on ATi things, they're over and above the norm things.

That said it's been while since I loaded up TLR...but it's not one of those games, it just hates ATi.

And now for something ontopic again

Recettear - An Item Shop's Tale 7/10

This game is great... well no not quite...
first of all if you don't like anime then forget it, this isn't just JRPG art anime levels this is full on anime themed as if it was based on DBZ (or any other anime) though it's a standalone work plus it has virtually every anime cliche in it.
Second it's got awesome hack-and-slashing, well no not quite...if you've ever played any Playstation 2.5D realtime hack and slasher then it's nothing special. Good way to get items for "free" though. Also the dungeons are randomized so at least replay value is up.
That leaves the shop running aspect and dating game like time management with timebased goals. Generally I'm not a fan of time based things since I usually fall short of the goal, and the same is likely to happen the first time you play Recettear but thankfully game over isn't go back to the beginning and try again, well it is but it plays like a new game plus where you loop around with the items you had, your merchant level and some money so every loop gets easier and easier. The rest of the time you'll be doing harvest moon like menial stuff like shopping for new things, seeing rather unimportant (though humorous in an almost too corny kind of way sometimes) scenes that trigger now and then and moving items around the shop and then haggling and selling them.

One more thing, though the game hardly requires advanced control it definitely plays much nicer on a gamepad than it does on the keyboard and there's no mouse support at all.

Thankfully though I love anime and am ok with all the cliches, (the lame (and slightly depressing) story bugs me a little though), haven't been overexposed to 2.5D maze hack and slashers and find the menial bartering highly addictive (at least 3 hours in) so I'm loving it. As I said 7/10

Fallout 1: 7.5/10
The game has a very slow start, and you'll likely take a couple of tries til you find out just what skills you need to not die in the first hour of gameplay.
And even then it's not a cakewalk. Most of the early enemies will slaughter you, and you have little indication where you can find managable quests and decent equipment.
Another big flaw is that the game is timed; all the way.
Still, the game sucks you in. It has a good storyline and well-made characters. The combat system is OK, but you'll need quite a few perks to really be up to some enemies. Kudos also for the facial animation done on the important NPCs, especially for its time.
One final shortcoming of this game is that it's short. Comparably few locations and only 3 main quests.

Well to be fair it's ancient...short was kinda the norm back then.

Nvidia sports their "physx" as if its only possible of nvidia cards. They intentionally ignored optimizations for pcu physx.

Most of their "The Way It's Meant To Be Played" is because of physx compatibility.

I would give BBS only 4/10 the game is very repeative and the place they visit is very limited not so big the drop of framerate also very annoying too.
The fighting system still addictive though.
Whats so repetitive about Birth by Sleep? the game has a ton of content, modes, mini games and lots of goals. You get a new abilities, attacks and commands every 2 or 3 minutes and it maintains itself fresh. Seriously whats so repetitive about it? i have 20 hours in it and 17 have been in the mirage arena alone with my brother playing co op.
