I know I have been pretty tight lipped about sound plugins and everything but after some new developers were added we rewrote the code and gave the sound plugin a new name Ps2sP, We have been working pretty much non stop on this code, Elly, Zenogais and myself, we're a day or two away from going into beta as for this being open source we have decided against it for now also please do not request to be a tester, testers have been chosen based on testing exp and the fact that they were also beta testers for pcsx2. Anyway enjoy the pictures that have been included of Ps2sP. I'm sure you will notice by the pictures you see the code is 99.9% completed does this mean it will play sounds like they're supposed to be played? maybe, maybe not there are still alot of things that do need to be implemented and certain bugs that will need fixing but we will get it working properly.

Well thats why, we'll have to continiously update as the HW emulation progresses and becomes more complete. right now we're just trying to get sound from out of the bios and with sound it will allow more HW progression as well as a few more games to show something.

i'd expect this plugin to drop fps in emulater alot. but we won't know the full damage until more games work.

I don't believe it will be a significant drop in fps maybe 1 or 2 fps at most if that, then again until we have the sound code fully implemented we wont know, but don't expect too big a drop. I can just hear the sighs of relief :p

Ory, Don't understand your question are you asking what will be heard under 10 FPS? probably alot of choppy sound but being we probably aren't releasing the plugin to the public until pcsx2 0.7 comes out, yes I know thats a while but it takes time to get the plugin fully functional. when 0.7 comes out I suppose this is just a guess, that FPS will be at a steady 20-35fps which will allow the sound to act a little better if you're interested in hearing what sound will play like below 10 FPS set epsxe or something similar to 10 fps and listen to the sound plugin.

Is the fps of pcsx2 low because of weak computers, or (please don't take this the wrong way) "weak" codeing? Like, are the game loading so slow because the emulatior is buggy and not sure how to proccess the game; if so, wouldn't the sound not drop the fps?

imho i don't think there is a PC on earth right now that can run a PS2 emulater at full speed running a real game.

.... It's not about "weak" coding the pcsx2 is not a simple emulator to program, hell coding the sound plugin really isn't simple. as stated before the only slowdown you may notice with pcsx2 is when the emulator and spu2 do the write commands to the buffer other than that there should be no slowdown. Also VDDZ try posting your question about pcsx2's coding to the right thread next time this thread has to do with the spu2 sound nothing more.

really Kanodin you should even respond to this questions...about "weak" coding ...
i think its ok that you develop your plugin, but why do want do have the thread here?
IMO until the plugin is released there isn´t any constructive response for your plugin in here, so just some strange guessing...and stop you from coding ;)
to let people know that theres something on the PS2 sound some news submission would be enough
but thats just my opinion ;)
