Hi there new to the forums and I'm just wondering if anyone have a solution for my problem.

I Followed this guide PokemonEmulation step by step and had to do some minor adjustments because I did some stupid misstakes. However I am now at the point where it almost works. When I load my firered and leafgreen saves the leafgreen save works perfectly but my firered wont. It says

"WARNING!
There is a different game file that is already saved.
If you save now, the other file's data, including items and POKéMON, will be entirely lost.
Are you sure you want to save now and overwrite the other save file?"

Where in the guide did I go wrong? I guess its something with the save files but I have tried renaming them and switching forth and back from 64k to 128k

It would sound like you don't have to separate versions of VBALink in 2 separate folders the way the guide suggests...other than that I have no clue, never tried to trade.

So I should just remove the 172 folder? and keep the 180 vbalink?

no, you need both and need to use them separately according to that guide

It's probably a ROM error. FR/LG are particularly prone to that. You could, however, rename your FR save/savestate to LG and see if that works. I remember being able to load my old Red save with Blue, back with DOS No$GMB.
And remember to always make backups!!!
