Hello everyone,

I was wondering if somebody could comment on the PCSX2 hardware and software recommendations related with my configuration?
These are recommendations from PCSX2 wiki page:

Minimum (most games will be unplayable slow)
  • Windows/Linux OS
  • CPU: Any that supports SSE2 (Pentium 4 and up, Athlon64 and up)
  • GPU: Any that supports Pixel Shader model 2.0, except Nvidia FX series (broken SM2.0, too slow anyway)
  • 512MB RAM (note that Windows Vista needs at least 2GB to run reliably)
Recommended

  • Windows Vista / Windows 7 (32bit or 64bit) with the latest DirectX
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.2 GHz or better OR i3/i5/i7 @ 2,8 GHz or better OR AMD Phenom II @ 3,2 GHz or better
  • GPU: 8800gt or better (for Direct3D10 support)
  • RAM: 1GB on Linux/Windows XP, 2GB or more on Vista / Windows 7
This is my configuration:

> Mainboard : MSI P4M890M3-V (MS-7255)
> Chipset : VIA P4M890
> Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 @ 1800MHz
> Physical Memory : 2048MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM )
> Video Card : ASUS EAH4670 series, 512MB
> Hard Disk : Seagate ST3320820AS (320GB)
> Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3 (32-bit)
> DirectX : Version 9.0c (May 2010)
I googled a bit, but I am not sure if my graphic card (ASUS EAH4670) support Pixel Shader model 2.0?

Any comments on how weak my configuration is in comparison with upper recommendations?

Thank you.

Your GPU is enough to play PS2 games at native resolution or maybe 2x upscaled (depends on the game).

But your CPU is too slow, so you'll probably need speed hacks to reach fullspeed in the less demanding games. More demanding games will run below 60fps for sure, no matter what speed hacks you use.

Frankly, your CPU is too slow for PS2 emulation, unless you don't mind playing half-speed.

Well, this forum is not as active as it used to be, but there's still some people around.

But for the specific emulators, you'd better go for their official forums, since the developers and dedicated community usually are there.
