Anyone testing it? damn it is fast!
I'm an Opera user due to the speed which not only on rendering website but also overall UI responsiveness (compared to IE and FF, but Chrome is faster) and this release obliterate it all!

Many blog site also found that in most java script test, it win, yes even againts Chrome!

You can find it from the developer's site Opera Desktop Team - From all of us to all of you

Do note though that this is a preview release and it might be wise to not use it as your main browser, you can also test the portable build by other people, here Opera_Portable_10.50.3172_Multilingual.paf.exe

Opera seems to be nicely faster at jscript-heavy pages compared to 10.10

But all in all, the UI would require major rethinking, it's gone at the point it's simply counterproductive, and bloated. Pick a UI, and stick to it, not change it 10 times a year.
Huh? I have a completely different opinion than you... In my experience trying browsers, only Opera have the real customizable UI.
Right click-> customize let you change almost all aspect of the UI, mine has search page permanently embedded on the leftmost bottom space for example.

Just realized that you mean its default skin.
Well, almost all major browser change it when they get to major release, so it's fair imo, and for Opera case it's not really a bad thing ;).

Didn't make much of a difference IMO.
Really? but I can feel the SPEED! :p
Most obvious is scrolling on heavy pages with slower computer, FF is unbearable, this not.

If you browse Internet on mobile phone Opera is your best web browser to use.
But for PC FF for the win!

Eh... at least it serves its purpose, and no other Java browser even come close to Opera Mini.

On topic, this Opera pre-alpha crashed every 5 minutes or so as has been warned :heh: I guess I must wait for at least alpha to really replace the 10.10 T^T

I'm still on 10.10

It's funny, after FF has stolen just about everything that made Opera good, I'm still using Opera. I don't even need the 'fit-to-screen' button anymore ever since I got my widescreen LCD. Guess I have mouse gestures ingrained into my browsing habit and find myself right-click move-left one time too many, even when my mouse has a back-forward button to do that job. -_-

pre-alpha? The mere word makes me shudder.
As opposed, there are many excited Opera users, after all this is, like the name imply, a preview of the treat we'll get soon. ;)

Same here, I'm also using Firefox portable from time to time and found myself configuring it to be like Opera (Mouse gestures, Speed Dial, MHT support, and some more which simply missing) :/.
The Strata40 skin is nice though.

My main browser is Opera, i also have Firefox just in case but i don't use it.

What i like about Opera is that i can customize it the way i want, is faster than Firefox and it have better Skins than Firefox. I don't like Firefox Skins.

Firefox does have something that Opera don't have, and thats "addons", Opera have "widgets" instead. But Firefox addons are better than Opera widgets. But that's the only part when Firefox have more points than Opera imho, i like Opera in everything else.

Opera also have a cool feature: "Paste and Go", so if you are feeling a bit lazy you can just grab a link and paste it with a "Paste and Go" and it will go to that link automatically (without pressing enter to go to the link).

And yep, i "was" a Firefox user years ago, i switched to Opera.

Opera Mini is good, but....in terms of speed, Pocket IE eats it alive :p
Pocket IE is faster than Opera Mini? Sounds like there's something weird with your phone. Opera Mini is much faster.

Opera can gtfo. A lot of websites more compatible with FF and IE.
That's because sites are designed specifically for those browsers. So the comparison is rather unfair.

opera is about web standards.
Actually, Opera was built from the ground up to handle crappy code. It's just a myth that Opera refuses to handle non-standard code. Most compatibility problems are because the site is blocking Opera anyway. If you mask Opera as Firefox, the sites will "magically" start working because they think you are using Firefox, so they send stuff that actually works instead of just blocking you.

Widgets aren't really supposed to be addons to the browser. They are supposed to be separate applications. Opera has stuff like custom toolbars and buttons, and User JS for extending the browser.

I understand what you mean but opera promotes web standards more than any other brower. Opera: Web Standards Curriculum unlike IE.

The speed of a browser really doesn't matter much to me. All of the modern browsers are plenty fast. The biggest factor that keeps me from using an alternate browser like Opera are all of the various extensions I use on Firefox. I do have to say though, Opera has always been an impressive browser and a step ahead of it's time. The only problem I've had with it in the past is it seemed to have chronic stability issues. There were always a few select sites that were guaranteed to crash it.

One major problem I face with Opera is that when loading lengthy pages (like forum pages), it half loads the page and then stops. You have to refresh it a few times before it loads the entire page, I've faced this problem since v9 up to the current version.

Its the primary reason I don't like it.

Oh yeah that, and add-ons
