matt and chris (hushy and eternal11) upgrade! (56k DEATH!)

ok so chris and i went to central computing today, got a Zalman CNPS7000a-AlCu for myself and my 2500+ and i gave him a Spark 7+ i had in my closet. also, he gave me an old P3 rig with an ASUS Vp6 and a 1ghz P3, 512 PC133 RAM and GF2 MX.

things to note: my computer is the black one with the round Zalman HSF, his is the white one with the orange Spark 7+, and the P3 rig is the one with the huge 120mm fan. oh, and check out the big fire next to chris' house ;)

also, this thing is whisper quiet, and im at 2.09 ghz right now, prime95ing at 42/26 :D and his PC is super quiet when he turns the fan down...and monsterously loud (and quiet) when P95ing.

lastly, check out my room, and the mess in there

Now that was fun to look through.. good stuff. :)

Is that a BFG (or visiontek) GF4 TI4200 I see in your friend's PC? Same as mine if sor, I even see the same stickers on the back. (ti4200128, made in china, complies with canadian ICES-something ;)). What are his full specs? Also, I want more PICS! :D

edit: I like that dual 370 Mobo. Prolly doesn't support Tualatins though. :p Ahh, just noticed Chris is eternal11. Cool you guys know each other. Kinda like me and Scione. :p

yea that mobo in the socket 370 is the abit vp6...i checked up on it, and it doesnt support tualatins..:(. and yea that is a BFG GF4 Ti4200. you shoulda seen what we used to pay for the zalman hsf. i brought a bag of quarters, and we had them all spread out over the counter...too bad we didn't bring the camera to the store.

What a mess! Cool machines though :)

Right on guys, how do yah like that Zalman so far hushy? Yah lots of room in that case, mine has about 3/4" between the PSU and the Zalman heh. Only thing is that you will have to clean them a little more often the most other HSF setups. Small price to pay for such great cooling however.

#8 ·
dude, yeah. MANY thanks to cylinder for advising me to get the Zalman and telling me it was going to fit. hell yes!

once i get my camera i'll take some more pics...right now that's all we have. anyway, im prime95ing right now and let me tell you, i am IMPRESSED. with a fresh, unbroken in AS5, i'm prime95ing at 42Âş, my room is ~26Âş right now, and im at 2090 mhz and 1.7volts. very good Zalman :thumb:

by the way, full system specs, straight from Darkengine :p

Glad to help for sure, convinced a few other people I know to get them aswell. They do rock that much. I don't normaly pimp a peice of hardware so much but they are very worth it. Awosme performance, and uber quiet. :thumb:

Oh well...because matt(hushy) told me too...here are my specs from DarkEngine:

I was so inspired by the pic of eternal11 playing NFSU I had a friend take a pic of me playing Far Cry (only PC game I have installed atm.. :p).

Damn , I wish I lived near Hushy.

I want that computer, and that GF2 card.:D Your friends setup is sweet, I love the little table and just the LCD monitor, it takes up so little room!:) God, I want one of those so I can put my PC in my room.:(

#14 ·
oh yeah, just to clarify....all the shots are in my room except for the ones where i have both my hands on the computer (first post).

that little LCD/small table setup is in the corner of my room

/takes the HP computer and throws it out the window

HP is bad! BAD I tell you! :p

Heh, nice job on the upgrading. ;)

#16 ·
man HP is evil....even their keyboards suck! the optical mouse that came with teh computer sucks!!

im thinking of yanking the 800mhz celeron out of the HP and sticking it in the VP6...hmm....

#17 ·
Yup the processor is about the only good thing in that horrid HP box (my old one looked the same) :p Anyways maybe the Video card (if it came with one) too.

I suggest you take the case and try to mod it "creatively" Wouldn't that be fun?

that HP is nothing but pure crap. let's see what it came with:

-Sony 15" Analog LCD monitor. good for browsing the web and chatting on AIM, horrid at games and anything requiring color or movement.
-800 mhz coppermine Celeron. this thing is half as fast as my sister's 800mhz Coppermine P3 (according to benchmarks)
-128 mb PC133 SDRAM. definitely not enough for XP
-some crappy brand (mitsui i think) 4x2x24 CD-RW drive. this thing has burned 1 CD ever and it's already crapped out. slow as hell too.
-of course, teh crappy no ventilation HP Case
-crappy, crappy keyboard
-Intel 82810 integrated "graphics" (i hesitate to actually call them graphics, i can render frames faster with a pencil and paper)

shall i keep going? :p that thing is just sitting on my floor now, unused...

Awesome setup Hushy.;) Anyway, I've always loved those HP keyboards for some reason...:D Probably because they're sort of big and clunky, yet they look cool.:D

BTW, I'd be scared as fock(of static shock) to put my mobo on the carpet.oO

#20 ·
Heh.. I do it all the time with my computer hardware.. still works fine. :p

Hushy: I guarantee you one Tualatin Celeron @ 1.7 will outperform that dual coppermine setup.. if you use the coppermine celeron (which are horrible btw..). Not to mention how utterly useless dual CPUs are for the average user.

I also noticed, eternals11's hair is just like mine. Personally, I hate my hair.:) So I cut it often and gel the crap out of it.

That's bullshit.:p Benchmarks mean F all when it comes to the real world. I'm using a Coppermine Celeron right now. It's a 633Mhz running at 855Mhz. Basically it's a PIII with half of the Level 2 Cache. If you want, why don't you post a shot of Sandra on that machine? I'll post mine running at 800Mhz as well. We can compare the scores. :)

Not just half, but slower, less wide L2 Cache. The Celeron coppermine's cache is 4-way associative while the P3's is 8-way. Regardless of whether or not Hushy posts scores, I'd like to see what you get in Sandra. :)

the tualatin celeron's l2 cache is also 8-way ;)

#25 ·
Here's some Sandra benches.. :p My RAM is at 3-2-3 right now, will re-do RAM benches at 2-2-2 later on.. :)

ugh. i dont want to set up that POS again to bench it. the point is, an 800mhz celeron sucks compared to a P3.

yeah, i know how your Tualatin is teh w00t all around dude, you dont have to always brag :p

and i wasnt seriously planning on putting the celeron in there...it was just a thought.

lastly, the reasons i want dual CPUs:

1. it's badass....bragging rights!
2. just in case of multitasking? crap i dont know, reason 1 is good enough for me.
