Man, when will I learn to look in here to see if a threads been made...
When I think games I think software so I only looked in the "Software" section :hdbash:

Below are the details known so far!

• The game is set for a spring 2011 release date on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

• Right now the development team is looking at having about 30 characters — or so — in the roster.

• Seth Killian said that fans can expect "a healthy dose of new blood" when it comes to fighter selection.

• It's a 3-on-3 tag team fighting game, players build their own squads and uses Assists as well. Very similar to MvC2.

• The title uses an advanced version of Capcom's MT Framework, which powered Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2.

• MvC3 has aerial combos, hyper combos and other original gameplay systems.

• The game is officially titled Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.

• The goal is to get 100 pieces of music in the game, that includes old favorites, new tracks and remixes. The 'Take You For A Ride' song won't be returning, at least, it's not planned right now.

• There are no plans for an arcade, PC or Wii version.

• The team behind this wants this game to have a strong storyline.

• Development started on MvC3 in the summer of 2008.

And below is character artwork that is said to be based on there ingame models

How To Select Fighting Game Characters The MARVEL Way

Baker was very coy in talking with Kotaku about who might or might not make the final cut for the game. He did tell us that the roster, while nearing completion, is still not finalized. He also explained some of the things that Marvel looks at when deciding which sorts of characters they would want in a game.
Once a character makes the cut, Capcom begins working up how they will look in the game, another tricky process that included a lot of Marvel feedback.

"My job is to ensure that the characters are in line with what they should be at a very base level," Baker said. "Making sure that their looks are modern."

For example, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3's Wolverine is a much different beast than the Wolverine of the last Marvel Vs. Capcom game. In Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Wolverine had what Baker described as a "90s look" with exaggerated "ear things" and impractical boots.

"Now his costume plays down the ear thing, the boots are more practical, but it's still the classic yellow and blue costume everyone loves," Baker said. "So basically our job is to kind of steer them in that direction: 'This is what we are doing with the characters now (in comics), this is how we want you to present it in the game.'"

The Hulk, Baker said, is a character design very much born of Capcom's "artistry".

"Their Hulk is pretty unique," he said. "There are definitely issues of comics you could compare him to. He may not look like the Hulk of today, but that's OK."

Once a character's base look is nailed down the two teams begin work on figuring out the character's moves and special attacks.

"They do all of the mechanics, we're not game developers at Marvel we are the licencors, we know our games but it's Capcom that is developing this game," Baker said. "Fortunately, they do their research and they generally know their characters very well. Every once in awhile there will be a special move that's like, 'Hmm, maybe you should change that to this.' Or maybe they are leaving out a really great move that we think should be in there.

"That's why we are here, to make sure Wolverine isn't shooting lasers out of his claws, to use an extreme example."
Very interesting article!

Of note is the processes that the creators are using to do this

I am extremely impressed to know that MARVEL are getting a tonne of input in this :thumb:

I never in my wildest dreams would have realized MARVEL had a roster of 5000 characters to choose from! oO

I think its more Nero than Dante but that would be silly. People want more Dante. Both of them maybe? But i definitely see a Deadpool, ChunLi, Dr. Doom and Wesker in that pic. I dont think frank will be in it because he is already on Tatsunoko.
Omg, I didn't thought about that... Dante has to be in this game.

Another pic to help the speculation along! ;)

Resident Evil 1’s Tyrant Cut From Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Roster

During Capcom’s big reveal of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, producer Ryota Niitsuma was asked if the Tyrant from the original Resident Evil would be playable. His answer regarding the giant, clawed t-virus abomination was a bit of a shocker.

“I can tell you this,” Niitsuma began. “There were plans to include Tyrant in the game up to the very middle. Then we kind of cut that. Sorry.”

If you didn’t already know, Jill Valentine could summon the Tyrant from the ground with one of her super moves in Marvel vs. Capcom 2. The skinned gorilla-looking creature would burst from under the stage similarly to the way he did in Resident Evil 1’s conclusion on the mansion heliport.

Consider me saddened that I will not be able to deliver a dragon uppercut to the mutant’s exposed heart.

But I liked Tronne Bonne is Marvel vs Capcom 2!

And little red, who doesn't like a demonic 6 yr old using flammable alcoholic beverages on fighters!
