I think the mods should make a Sticky thread and Put the Subject in BOLD for the newbies, to stop making those annoying threads. I guess lately, because the site's popularity has grown, there are people here wich, maybe, never has been in a WWWboard, so the make too much mistakes, like the ones you see under this post. I maybe you should make a sticky thread with a subject in bold wich says something like: NEWBIES: READ THIS BEFORE POSTING!! in the 3 most popular forums. that's only my opinion, don't think I'm commanding you!! :)

Newbies don't read FAQs, they don't read manuals, etc. That's part of the reason why they don't have a clue. You could throw the answer right at them, and they'd still ask.
certainly true... but maybe you should put something that could call their attention... and maybe then, we should get less "annoying closed" threads...

Let me fix this...

I know there are many annoying threads at times, but it is not a solution to ban them immediately. If we keep banning people the message boards will run dry eventualy, and we wouldn't wan that to happen. I think it is a really good thing that so many new people are signing on. We should do somethig about reading the manual though. There should be some warning somewhere when you sign on that you must read the manual so that we can actually flame someone who hasn't. Now people will just not read.

Let me ask you an honest question. Do you always read the installation notes when it comes to installing new games? I don't since it is always the same. People do the same with the board rules.

We were all newbies once. If people didn't bother to answer my Valkyrie Profile question 6 months ago because "it's been answered already last month", then I prolly wouldn't be here now.

If you want to help, do so because you like to. You don't want to help, then shut your trap. I've seen much more useless threads than the ones the n00bs post. I'd rather see a 'How do you configure FF9?" post than a "WHAT GATEKEEPERS CHARACTER DO YOU LIKE THE MOST!!!!!!" thread. -_-

I personally think that these people want to be helped. They want the attention. Also, it's easier to scream for help than to read a manual. I remember when I worked the help room of gamespy arcade and people would come in and ask how to do something, get the answer they wanted, say 'thanks, it worked' then leave. 5 minutes later they come back and ask the same question.

Quote from Serious Sam: "They never learn..."

N00bs will eventually learn, but till then if we keep thinking that threatening them with banning everytime they make a mistake...
C'mon, everyone of us has made mistakes like them back when we didn't have a clue about what emulation really was... (I've seen, the snes9x first version, the DOS PSEMU beta, etc, so I know what I'm talking about...)

I don't think the posted rules help, since most people don't bother reading them. Most newbies I know go straight to posting their messages. I'm just thinking, maybe it'd help more if there was a warning on the posting screen itself. Just a short warning of the most common voilations at the top of every post screen. It'll be the first thing they see when making posts and will possibly prevent them from posting questionable things.

That's exactly what I mean... that's the kind of threads I want to rid off, because the ones asking for help in a game, configuring this, opening that, etc. are always different, and if there were ones similar, the new ones tend to look the same problem a bit different. so, What is my goal?? most people believes the emu sites are places were one can get all sorts of illegal stuff, and they really dont care about the rules of the sites regarding the the way their members must act, so every time I get here I always see threads like 'I NEED FFIX ISO' And thats the kind of threads I want to get rid of. god, I think I'm posting nonsense again, I think I better..

IMHO most noobs are less stupid and more lazy. The only way in which to prevent stupidity due to laziness is to use their laziness to you advantage. Take for example the help file. It contains exactly the same info as the old FAQ. Yet it has appeared to have cut down on some of the more annoying repeat posts, simpily because it can be accessed from the help menu in the emu, whereas the faq was in the doc directory of the emu and required ppl to look for it.
