How come my celeron has an L2 cache?
They're called Celeron. If I'm not mistaken, all Celerons with more than 300MHz have L2 cache.Originally posted by sonicfoot
Okay so i have a CeleronA with 128 KB of on-die L2 Cache.
So what is the celeron without an L2 cache called and what is the difference between them?( apart from the L2)
Your Celeron is based on the P3 Coppermine core w/ SSE so some programs might recognize it as P3Originally posted by sonicfoot
no, there isn't anything wrong with my cpu, its just that some programs that i have recognise my cpu as a pentium 3.
then i downloaded and tried out 3dmark 2001 yesterday and it reported my cpu having an L2 cache!
Hmm, maybe if the CPU has less than 512 KB of cache it will report it as a Celeron. The only real difference between P2 and Celeron is the FSB (which can be overclocked) and the size of the L2 cache.Originally posted by FireGL
BTW does anyone of you tried to disable the L2 cache of a Pentium 2..... i tried it and it become celeron
the bios report it as celery
