Interesting Problem in FFX

Hi, recently I started playing FFX on PCSX2 and I have found a very interesting problem that has caused me a great deal of frustration.

I started the game and not so far into it, I encountered a problem. At the beginning in the part where Auron tells Tidus to "Look" at Sin, just before the scene changes to show the big blob, the game crashes. I was running an older version of pcsx2 so I downloaded the newest version 0.9.5, but it gave me the exact same error at the exact same place. Well, nothing much I can do about it, so i downloaded a relatively early save game somewhere in this forum and continued playing and everything was good again until the game crashed again. This time in the ship scene just after Tidus finished talking to Yuna and the ship started shaking up.

Now what is interesting is that in both these crashes I noted that the game crashed when the ps2 output showed "CDRead" instead of "DvdRead". I googled and searched and apparently I am not the only one with this problem. This person here has had the same problem as me. At the exact same scene. The only difference is, he fixed it by using another game and my new disc gave me the same problem.

Does anyone know why the game crashes whenever the output shows "CdRead"? Desperately need this fixed. If anyone needs any specs I can post them, but I dont think its really relevant. Thanks for any help in advance. ;);)

EDIT: I have just looked through the forums and just found two more with the same problem here and here. The exact same scenes again. Apparantly lots of people have this problem, described by phil as 'the famous "Auoron Look Crash"'. I have tried using the TLB version, running it from both the dvd and the iso i ripped, both to no avail.

search around forums, there's a lot of this "Auron: Look!" probelm around, if I rmemeber correctly using latest beta and using a different spu/cdvd plugin did the trick, there's also people that got stuck on the second spot but i dont know how they fixed it, also making the iso with IMGBURN seemed to be ok, dunno what else, just search around :p

Yeah I just realised. The thing is though, Ive tried running it from the dvd and the cd. So would ripping it with another iso ripper have any difference? I will try using a different spu/cdvd and then if it didnt work ill try with another rip.

My coms specs are on my siggy now.

make a ISO with IMGBURN seems to be very good for ps2 images or smt >.>

Stay with Linuzappz 0.7 and your last .iso.
Then try different pcsx2 builds (0.94 official, svn 377 and then one of the playground builds).

I don't remember what exactly the problem was, but it has to do with the dvd read..

are you dumping the game from the original game disc or a backup copy?

if i recall correctly i passed he ship scene by using a save stat just before the crash ,and then puting the emulator without any speed optamization or multihreading and then reloading it several time before the crash.
the problem belong when the game want to load a video of Sin attacking the ship so if you disable the video in the game patch i think you can also pass the scene.
and if you are using the patch to put some crack into the game disable CodeBreaker MasterCode they are not necessary and they some time made the game crash.
another good thing in these situations is to use different plug ins.

I had the same problem with crashing while the Auron:Look! part. It was a problem of the ISO, i made it with nero but after making an mdf file with Alcohol 120% i had no Problems also running the original DVD with Peops DVD Plugin worked out for me.

Did you use the Peops plugin that you got with the download of 0.9.4 or you downloaded it seperately, because for me only the one that was with the 0.9.4 package worked.

You can disable the patches by going on "misc" and there is the option "enable patches" there you can disable it.
