hwnd error?!?

epsxe is working correctly and everything but when i minimize it from full screen i find 2 epsxe's on my toolbar; one the emulator which i just minimized and the other a blank/black window about a quarter of the size of the screen.
I close it and a box comes up saying shutdown error could not release hwnd (see pic), the emulator still works and everthing though so i was just wondering what this was. It also seems to drain my resources and slow down the game i am playing on.

post your plugins and settings. if you could throw in your system specs that would help as well. ive seen that error message before but i dont remember how it was fixed. since you are using vista, have you tried disabling DEP? DEP is known to cause weird stuff to happen when its on, it can do this in XP as well from what i know but it seems to occur more often in vista for some reason.

You are really a......., that window you're seeing/appears is a normal one, called the ( console out put window), and what the hell you're doing, while trying to minimize the emu_window,,, you must be a new user than,,,,OK,,, here are some instructions, and don't bother people around here in future 'cause just you don't read the instruction included in documentations (mostly READMEs) within programs...OOOOK:

1 - To minimize/exit without errors, while playing in fullscreen, push ESC button to pause emulation & get back to emu main window, and than you can minimize/exit in secure w/o errors.

2 - For the the (console out put window) : Its a normal/included window with ePSXe, in fact its really a usefull one that shows you actions did by the emu, and you can Enable/DESABLE it like this (Main GUI Menu/RUN/Enable Logs)...
DONE..:eek:nthepull

For your information i do press escape to minimize epsxe and i have been using it for years and have never come across this window before.

make sure you directplay and directmusic drivers are up to date. can you post the settings you are using for the eternal plugin? and what boxes do you have enabled in the spu selection (there are 4)?

and while i doubt this is related, its useful to know anyway- how are you playing the images, are you mounting them on a virtual drive or what? and what format did you make them in?

Sound, CDDA sound and XA sound are enabled. SPU IRQ is disabled

Audio device: Directsound Buffer size: 32

Audio out method: SPUasync Async mode: Smooth

All other settings are default and all fixes are disabled

I am running the ISO file directly

it is in ccd/sub/img format

I have just tried mounting the image and enabling sub-channel reading but have the same problem

I have directx 9 and directdraw is version 5.03.2600.2180 directmusic is same version

also when i close the window and ok the error the emulator maximizes to full screen again ( not a problem but thought id mention it)

I have found two references to it from google and it seems to concern c++

hWnd property
refers to the propertys of hwnd
and
Visual C++ Express, OpenGL, Vista - Please Help - GameDev.Net Discussion Forums
has
if (hWnd && !DestroyWindow(hWnd)) // Are We Able To Destroy The Window?
{
MessageBox(NULL,"Could Not Release hWnd.","SHUTDOWN ERROR",MB_OK | MB_ICONINFORMATION);
hWnd=NULL; // Set hWnd To NULL
}
about a third of the way down in the scrolling box/window in the third post

but i have zero experience in c++ so have no idea could anyone help?

Im not on vista :lol: its xp

tried the settings you gave but window is still there

you using PAL games right? have you tried patching them with a .ppf patch? before we get onto the topic of code i want to rule a few things out just to be sure because i know ive seen an error like that before and the more things i can eliminate the better.

btw if you dont really care about visual enhancements, you might want to give another emulator like psx a shot and see how things go.

#17 ·
yeah try out different plugins and see how it reacts. have you also tried playing from the disc instead of from an image?

#18 ·
Do you mean that you have 2 epsxe running now?
Try to use task msn and shut down epsxe.exe in the processes and restart epsxe.

and does that problem appear over and over again?
Sorry if I misunderstood your problem.

#19 ·
I have both PAL and NTSC Versions and both do the same I have tried other games and they seem to have the same problem:(

#22 ·
Don't miss understand me,,,,but I think you're using some magic for your PC/emu, well for that problem/msg you got man no one noticed such, non-common one,,,,deh,,,get a clean system man!!

#24 ·
Have tried playing from cd and using mooby plugin with subchannel but problem remains I have also tried different graphics and sound plugins too
Tried basic graphics settings and optimized ones too...

Uhhh... what are you trying to say? O..O
well,,,,,,:
1 - He's repporting a simple problem....(check screenshots)
2 - Can't make a relation between the first & secon scrshots,,,no relation between the simple problem he's about and the message he gets.
3 - did get another thread (annoying boy) about hdw!! problem/c++ coding

And I'm preety sure he's about to fake around, and the first scrshot shows all stuff he's about, I did got that problem too, and its nothing more than what I did posted/answred in first steps,,,but I guess he's about (I'm new here, Need to talk, need....),,,anyway....he should/must try a lot before posts some...:laugh:
