It could easily be an h264 video. This can require some processing power to decode.

If your computer isnt all that beefy, VLC has an option for hardware acceleration for h264, and could be your best bet.
What are even your hardware specs?

i tried running the video and checking the task manager to see if my processor was being eaten, it barely uses 20% of it..

Something is wrong with your installed codecs and/or your media player.

Which h.264 codec is installed? Which media player are you using? Is Haali Media Splitter installed on your system?

Max energy saving mode? There is your problem then. Laptop would be better already, as the economy doesnt hamper multimedia playaback.
See your system's properties for how many cycles youre currently running on.

 

In Media Player Classic: Home Cinema:

View > Options > Internal Filters

Under "Source Filters", make sure "Matroska" is checked. Under "Transform Filters", make sure "H264/AVC (DXVA)" is checked to enable hardware acceleration for good measure.

um.. im not sure if all higher resolution worked as i've yet played a video in all resolution.. but 1280x720 resolution worked.

oh btw, the resolution is not the problem (i think), i tried playing a different video with the same resolution (704x400) and that video worked..

Yes, ATI DXVA is known to have problem with SD content. If it still exist, try to use VLC.

 

If I were you I'd just avoid fiddling around with MPC's settings and just install another media player (like VLC) for this format only.

do you have k-lite or cccp installed? if you have k-lite try uninstalling it and installing cccp or if you have cccp uninstall it and install k-lite and then see if you still have the issue.

 

just finished downloading VLC and tried playing the video file, it worked perfectly, no slow downs at all, thanks everyone.

though i wonder why MPC has trouble playing the video.. hm..

i did, but i could find the option to disable DXVA for SD, all i could find when i double click was a compatibility vcheck for my graphics card.

 

Hmmm then you're using an old version of MPC-HC, anyway if you're happy with VLC then so be it.

well i cant really say im happy with VLC, if possible i would like to use just one media player for all my video files.. i guess you can say that VLC is just a "pelampung", for when MPC doesnt work.
