Yes, I´ve got this problem too, and i can´t make GStaris work, the emu crashes... I was getting better results (at least with the PS2 system) with pcsx2 0.4 and the old GSmax.

 

Perhaps this is another one of those bugs, like when no games would work with 0.4. Maybe the authors released the new version and didn't notice it.

Edit: I just noticed the readme says 0.6 is untested and bugs are to be expected. I think I like 0.5 better though.

 

First when running a CD/DVD or ISO use 'Run CD' not Run>Execute.

Second, GSsoft is going through a transition between using linear and block texture vram. Before it used linear, easier but not so accurate. Now it is being re-coded to use block texture vram, which is how the PS2 works, so it will be far more accurate, but whilst it's being coded, new bugs / glitches will be apparent, once re-coded it will look significantly better. (For instance the shot below is of GSmax, using this new method (even more experimental than GSsoft).

GStaris doesn't crash here, perhaps your specs would help us.

 

yes..maybe. well the PS2 logo in the bios was distorted...and plus, i tried wwf smackdown: just bring it with 0.4 w/ gssoft and the appearance of the letters were just fine but on pcsx2 0.5 w/ gssoft 0.6, the letters were all distorted...blurred?

 

hbk0259, CKEmu just explained the reason GSSoft looks so horrible, it's going through some changes. BTW, CKEmu, thanks for the info, I'm so used to going to Run - Execute that I didn't bother with Run CD. :lol:

As a general note, it is best to use Run-CD for any ISO or drive run game testing, as firstly it'll be quicker without having to go through the BIOS, and secondly less chances of errors.

 

one more thing...what about gstaris... it crashes when i try to run the bios...

As I already said, GStaris works fine here, can you be specific, and post your system specs, eg CPU / Graphics Card / OS / DX drivers / card drivers / RAM amount, and also what plugins your using.

 

i have P4 1.5 ghz, 32 mb geforce 2 mx 200, win xp home, dx9.0b, nvidia win 2000/xp display drivers v52.16, 256 mb sdram. i use pcsx2 0.5, gssoft 0.6, gstaris 0.66, spu2null 0.21, c/dvd 0.64, padwinkeyb 0.5, scph-10000, scph-39001

 

And I have Duron 1.3, geforce fx5200, win2000, dx9.0b, the latest nvidia video driver, 256ram. Tested with three bios (japanese, american and european) and none of them work with GStaris. Sometimes I even have to restart my PC.

And regarding GSMax, thanks for your explanation, CKEmu, we understand and can´t wait for the next release. Good luck, and congratulations for such a nice work.

 

Just ran some tests, and spoke to shadow. To get GStaris to work:

Disable Alpha Blending in the plugins CFG

 

Still no result, CK...

The error message is in portuguese, it means: pcsx2.exe Has Generated Errors and Will Be Closed...

 

Hmm, I will speak to the other beta-testers and devs. Then I shall get back to you with info soon.

 

Disabling Blending didn't do it for me either ... still playing with settings, I'll let you know if I can get something going.

The old GSmax does not have to correct plugin spec, and changes in the emulator wouldn't allow it to work anyhow, I am afraid until the new GSmax is released your stuck with GSsoft and GStaris.

I thought i was doing something wrong as well because i've been having the same problems as everyone else in this thread.

Looks like it's happening to a few ppl...

 

It's happening to everyone atm, frankly, I'd recommend sticking to GSsoft for now.

GSsoft is more compatible and should show more, even if it is alittle ugly atm.

 

I was running some demo's like Funslower and ps2tut_02B. and i found out that gssoft has turned the screen a quater to the left. (See the image below of ps2tut_02b)

I have Fixed the problem. I had the old version of pcsx2 installed prior and had the same problem. Deleted both the reg entries pcsx2 and ps2 plugins and ran pcsx2 and gtaris now works fine
Some one else double check please

I have removed all REG KEYs and entries, no fix there, with any setting variations.

Spoken to linuz / GoldFinger and expect a few plugin releases sometime soon.

Again I repeat, for now stick with GSsoft.
