Got a possible problem with my GF FX 5900

Okay, what is going on is this. When I try running certain things, sometimes my computer will reset, like I pressed restart. It happens randomly and on different applications. Last night it reset in ePSXe and on the Dawn Demo. When I tried ePSXe again, it worked allright, but when I tried Dawn again, it reset again. I'm using the 44.67 detonators and my card is not over clocked. I'm also using Riva Tuner to enable higher FSAA. Any ideas? Thanks.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

Maybe its a power problem? Don't wanna insult your intelligence but maybe you should check to see if the molex connector is plugged in.

im not sure, but my best bet is the driver(considering that its not a power prob). but i doubt that its a power prob unless u overlooked that one. a lower driver ver perhaps? or the one that came with the card maybe. where's ur 9700 now sxamiga? and uh, side topic, how do u pronounce sxamiga?

It does indeed sound like a power problem. Try disconnectiong your cd-roms and run loops of dawn and 3dmarks.

It does sound like a power problem and since he got a newer, faster card it is probably sucking too much juice for it to handle. Try getting a 400w ps or if you are willing to spend $ on a really good ps then get either an antec true power 380 or 430w. Here are some links to antec power supplies.

400w antec 2 fan ps
antec true power 380w
antec true power 430w
Recently I put a true power 330w ps in my dad's comp and it has been working perfectly and the dual fans have helped bring down the temps a bit (they're still WAY too high). I definatly reccomend taking a look at them. My next comp is gonna have a t.p. 380 in it :).

I would reccomend the 430psu. Just a bunch of extra juice. I use an enermax whisper 350psu and it has no problems. Mind you, im not running a beefy card like the 5900 :D

I'd say power. Lack of power can cause some wierd probs....

If you buy a new power supply then bear in mind that the overall output is not the be all and end all, the max amps (not peak) is what you want to look out for, try to get one with at least 35a on the +5v line (this info can be found on the side of the psu) and about 20a on the 12v.
As long as you get a branded one you'll be fine Im sure.

Mines a 550w with those amp specs above and it runs my abit/overclocked cpu/dvd drive/cdrw drive/4 hard drives + a few fans fine.

they just use the nvidia reference design board and added their own improve cooling solution.
