Do bear in mind that all the other major cities of the UK are highly accessible from London!

Yeah right, it's like 4 hours on a train between Glasgow and London. Unless of course you were meaning England instead of the UK. Then again, ALL of Belgium is closer to London than what Scotland is.

London sucks. It's full of pretentious idiots (even more than Edinburgh) who feel all holier than thou just because they're Londoners. I've been there twice. Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle are better. Hell, Blackpool and Dundee are better.

Visit the London Eye, that's my recommendation. Another recommendation is not to wear baggy clothes on the subway.

I live a good couple of hours from London in one of the least accesible towns in the world. We have about 80,000 people in Gosport and a single lane road in and out

Hell my parents live in a quaint wee place called Tweedbank. About 1,000 people, no railway, only one shop and no high school. We do have a radio station though.
