What controller do you prefer for games you are playing?

Depends on the game. Shooters are best played with keyb/mouse, but i would never play a soccer game with that. Strategy games are better played with mouse too. A flight simulator requires a joystick. I use both keyb/mouse and 2 pads (one with six buttons on the front for 2d fighters, a psx pad for pretty much everything else). I can't vote as i wouldn't use only one.

The only strictly PC games I really play are FPSs and strategy type games, so keyboard and mouse are sort of a given. Otherwise I'd take a gamepad for emulator games over a keyboard and mouse any day. You can't go about emulating console games and playing them with a keyboard and mouse, that just ruins the experience.

Do games with voice control even exist? I suppose they could make a voice controlled Star Trek Bridge Commander game or something. Maybe they did, who knows? I'm not really one to follow Star Trek games...

I prefer games like platformers, or RPG's, sports or racers to be played with an analog gamepad. But FPS and RTS should be played with keyboard+mouse, cause you need to take action quick and precise.

FPS and RTS games are better played with a K/B and Mouse to most of but to these guys at http://www.3dactionplanet.com/halo forums think a gamepad is more "natural" and call other consoles including the PC inferior (Xbox fanboys) (some would claim the Xbox's graphics processor is faster than the RadeonX800XT),I wonder how "naturally" we can take down these gamepad worshipers 2 on 1 one in Halo

There was an Unreal player using a joystick (pre-UT) that was supposedly unbeatable, called Toadwarrior. Apparantly, no kb/mouse using top-player back then was able to make him kick the bucket.

I find it hard to believe though.

Any of the major UT messageboards, and old topclans that originated during crappy ol' Unreal Multiplayer, when it's netcode sucked badly, and UT was non-existant.

I'm usually keyboard/mouse all the way, since I grew up on old 8bit computers (the ZX Spectrum :)) and the PC, but for a few games I'll switch to a gamepad. Examples are GTA3 and Vice City, as well as some platformers.

Also, I naturally use an analogue joystick + keyboard setup if I'm playing a serious simulation like X: Beyond the Frontier, I-War 2, Wing Commander or TIE Fighter.

Umm sorry for being ignorant, but what's the difference beetwen gamepad and joystick, isn't it the same?Well at least in my country we call them the same.Explain me the difference.
Mouse and keyboard for me, cause i despize consoles, so iti is odd that I am a member of an emulation site.

Myconid, a gamepad/joypad is a hand controller with a direction pad (the arrows) and buttons on it. You hold the entire unit in your hands to play. A joystick is a stick which you grip and move, it usually has buttons mounted on the actual stick and on the stick's base. The former is good for platform/sports games and the latter is said to be essential for flight sims.
