Simply put, your cpu is not powerful enough for fullspeed in ffx. Your average fps would probably be 50, maybe 45 even.

Blocky videos are a known problem with .92, nothing you can do to fix it short of waiting for .94.

Dunno about that, with this computer I have avg speed of 75~80 FPS. So I'm sure it should be a little higher on his which has very similiar CPU performance. FFX intro runs 43~95 FPS for me. But I'm guessing he might be using Vista and that will also slow down a few FPS.
Well your case is an exception. I've seen your opteron 2.8ghz perform about on par with my 2.8ghz c2d and even surpassing it in certain areas. I'd say your extremely low cas ram is helping by quite alot.

I read that the amd 64 architect was build around ddr, and when combined with very low cas/high frequency, can prove to be extremely effective. This is my guess as to why your system is so fast. Your cpu is above any x2 chip at the same clock and seems have have around 300mhz advantage. Meaning you can't compare his system fairly with your own.

Here take this guy's cpu for example. http://forums.ngemu.com/1176017-post577.html He claims to have a 3.1ghz x2 yet his performance is alot worse than my c2d@2.7ghz. I'm at 2.7ghz right now because I just bought a laptop and am using it more than my desktop hence why I took it down a bit. I think even you have better performance than he does.
