Final Fantasy 9 problem, trivial but annoying!

Hey guys this is my first post here, and I finally got some time on my hands to emulate some of my old games and finally be apart of this community! Anyway, on with my question..

I've really never had emulation problems before, and my video card fried recently and I don't know if that's the problem to what I'm having right now.

OK anyway! So I'm playing FF9 just started a new game, the graphics are pretty good for onboard, I can run almost everything close to max settings and get 60FPS, but I'm noticing static sounds. Its not frequent but its usually happens when there is a lot of music and sound effects going on, and I've been fiddling with my sound card, and my sound plugins settings to try and solve it and I just can't seem to figure out the problem. I also tried lowering my graphical settings to try and solve it.

I'm using ePSXe 1.6.0
Video Plugin : Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.77
Sound Plugin : P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.9
CDROM Plugin: ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 1.5.2.
BIOS : SCPH1001

I copied the games to my computer, so I don't think the CDROM Plugin would be the problem, or my bios. So yeah anyone have any ideas or anything that could set me on the right track to solving this problem? I don't remember having this problem in the past either! >.>

Whay do you mean by static sounds? Parasite noise? Sounds starting and looping?
Anyway I recommend you to use the Eternal SPU plugin. It can meaby solve the issue.

Hey thanks for the swift reply, not sure how I would explain the sounds. I will try the plugin you recommended and get back to you.

Well that didn't solve the problem, I'll try and describe the sounds best I can..

It pretty much sounds as if my speakers were busted, with that slight static ripping sound...But they're not busted because they sound perfectly normal otherwise.

Oh the joys of emulation, with like every game you have to modify lots of stuff to make it perfect! I guess I should try other sound plugins, you have any other recommendations?

Hey man I know what your talking about with the static sounds I used to get them randomly in FF8 and I would have to reset the emulator for them to go away.

Anyway how I fixed the issue was useing epsxe 1.7.0 and just use the internal sound plugin that comes with it. Also there's a program called ePSXeCutor which is a program that basicly saves different plugin information for the different types of games you have and different button configs, this way if you start using another game you won't manually have to switch the plugins back and forth to get the games running perfectly.

Get the program here: Click on the link that says ePSXeCutor v1.0.6.0 and put it in the same folder you have your PS1 emulator in.

Just a screenshot of what my ePSXeCutor looks like:

Hum...no. Eternal and Pete's sound plugins are the best out there...Well. I was about to tell you to upgrade to 1.7.0 but wcrdiablogod beated me and moreover proposed a solution which could work.

crackling is cured by increasing the buffer in the eternal plugin.

There isn't really one, just do it the old fashioned way and explore it.
