And GF4 won't be the best video card for it :dead:
I've just dl and watched a leaked movie of the presentation of Doom3 at E3. The quality is bad but Oh My God ! It's so beautiful that I can't play antoher FPS :D (config was : 2 Ghz intel, R300 ATI)

Hope my 1.1ghz T-bird can run it...my voodoo 5 is killing me these days.

DOOM 3 BABY!!! Quake 4 I bet is going to be more of the same. I'm pretty sure Raven software is making it, so its probably going to just be an above average fps. Nothing you haven't seen before.

People who want to deathmatch and stuff would want Q4. While those who lean more towards single player would want Doom 3. Its going to be a draw in the end I bet.

There's no information on Quake 4 (Id only makes one game at a time, in 2-3 year intervals) so I doubt you'll hear anything about it soon.

I think this game will be alot of fun. (I'm already a big FPS fan anyway.)
The reason the game looks so good is not due to a high polygon count though. What they actually did is they created high poly characters and did their lighting effects on them. Then they made lower poly characters and somehow told the rendering engine to light the lower poly characters in the same way as the high poly characters. I'm pretty sure that John Carmack is the first to use this technique for lighting. Also its obvious that the textures are very well done.
Just the detail put into the urinals alone makes me want to wet myself.

Just thought I'd mention a little something:
John Carmack said something that might actually scare some people. Apparantly, they made a small mistake when they were demoing Doom III at E3: they used medium quality, instead of high-quality configuration settings.
I got that from nVNews

I really can't wait for this game to appear. They hired an animator that worked on the movie Shrek and Antz. So guranteed it'll have excellent animation. The PC that was running the game at full speed was a P4 2GHZ and an ATI R300. When the game ships in late 2003 (which is my best guess), most people will have better than that. There will be (at least) another new GeForce board, intel and AMD will have 3.5GHZ chips out... A pc to run the game will be dirt cheap.

Think about this.. Quake 4 multiplayer. 100 players with that kind of graphics... Rockets shooting in all directions, realistic physics and effects. I think my PC just had a heart attack.

I also heard that M$ might be scoring the rights to the game and make it Xbox only... hmm that would be ALOT cheaper than buying a new pc. The Xbox just dropped to $299. Also if they make it Xbox only the developers can focus on ONE platform and make it the best ever. REALLY pushing the hardware. Rather than wasting time on compatibility with old systems. Cut months off development time and we'll see it sooner. :)

No GeForce 5. There will be no successor in name to the GeForce 4 according to nVidia. The next chip will be named something different, but it will be out by then. August, I think it's due.

/Kane screams in agony at the thought of playing an FPS on a console without a keyboard and mouse.
Yes but we'd only see it on the X-Box, and ID knows that it ain't gonna do that well (they ain't thick), so I don't see that happening in all honesty.

I'd assume they'd have a keyboard and mouse for the XBOX, just like they had for the DC (not sure about the keyboard).

I agree, I doubt that it'll come to the XBOX. MS and Id aren't exactly the best of buddies. John Carmack doesn't like Direct3D at all, which is why he only develops for OpenGL. Maybe it'll come to some other console though (Quake 3 was ported to DC and PS2).

Did you ever play Halo?? I found it to be very easy to play with the controller. I agree that M$ has a mouse and keyboard coming, especially with the new online stuff around the corner. If not an offical M$ product, one released by the no namers (ie Madkatz).

They also have a headset coming so you can yell at your buddies while you play. No trying to type something while you get shot BS.

Heh,well i've played Halo on Xbox.Althougj the game IS good it has many many slowdowns (fps going down and down :p .Now imagine Doom3 on the Xbox, man i don't want to think of it.Anyway as Carmack said it'll be first out on PC's. (I've seen tha leaked 11 minutes video from E3,although it's a low res video......oh man,it's fantastic.Too bad my current pc won't be able to run it in full detail (Athlon 1.8XP,256DDR,GF3Ti200)

Hey, Halo was a first generation game though...so you can't hold it against the xobx...:). I mean, timesplitters, unreal tournament, and even GTAIII has TONS of frameskips/slowdowns.:)

Pretty much all X-Box games are coming to PC after around 6 months anyway :D
I'd rather play on a more powerful machine and really see the benefits :D
