Anyone using this software and its codecs recently updated? Update must'vr added new codecs (seems like old directshow) as they've taken priority over the ones installed from the K-Lite Codec Pack (6.8).
Windows media player constantly crashed and could not playback certain .avi files (mainly fraps vids).
You could have just reinstalled the Klite Codec Pack...

My direct Tv's been out for 2 days and I decided to catch up on Bleach, but no easy way to display subtitles with ffds codecs.
Huh? just right-click the ffd show vid icon that appears in your tasbar and switch the subtitle under the menu option that mention subtitles...

I uninstalled the software, and everything works fine. Reinstall, and the same problems occur. I will miss it, as it generated nice thumbnails for 97% of my video content.
Or again, you could have just reinstalled K-lite.

Ffdshow doesn't seem to work with most .mkv containers in my case, unless the file has multiple subtitles. Even Haali media splitter list vids as having no subtitles, but still displays them in windows media player.
Then aren't the subtitles hardcoded? IE they're part of the vid stream not a separate subtitle stream?

Well if they're hardcoded they should be visible on any and all players.
