Hi zerofrog,

Please help me to disable the SE_Lock_Memory setting. I am running XP Home SP2. I know I can't do it through control panel. And I have no idea how to disable it through other means. Your source code suggests that you don't record it in registry and that implies it does have affect the XP system, since I don't have that user name window anymore when I star the PCSX2. If the system remebers it, I would like to revese the action to disable it for the safty of my other programs.

Would you kindly let us know how to disable it in XP SP2 Home?

Thanks,

The first time you run the VM version of PCSX2 (pcsx2.exe) it will ask you for a username underwhich it will enable the SE_LOCK setting. Just enter your own username.

Note that the account you use to run PCSX2 VM must be an Administrator.

Have you read the configuration guide that is posted at the top of this forum?

ok this is what happened.i changed true to false and then saved the document.Do i need to do something else after that. And how do i compile.
Few people here can help you with something like that. If you're not able to compile source yourself I suggest you don't try, and don't ask here. Also, you don't seem to know how to use a command line, in which you are certainly not going to be able to compile a complex program. I'm not trying to be mean, just realistic :thumb:

I suggest you try to use Zerofrog's program again. Using the command line is not that difficult, to open the command line:

Start->Run-> (type in) CMD (press Enter)

Please note that if you are not running Windows XP Service Pack 2 then you cannot use the SE_LOCK_MEMORY setting so all of this is for nothing.

Lastly, if you want/need more help with this topic please start a new thread because you are moving away from the topic of this thread, also this is an old thread you will get more help with a new one.

OK ill try that.
but if the se lock is off will i be able to run pscx2 without it telling me errors.
and if so will i be able to play dragonball tenkaichi 2 at a normal speed (a playable speed.)When i use pscx2t i runs mega slow and im not sure if this is part of my graphics but (u know how super saiyan hair is supposed to be yellow)it is blue and everything that is supposed to be red is blue and blue is red. Will pcsx2 be different than my problem in pcsx2t.

if you have se_lock ON, you can use the vm version of pcsx2 which is faster.

if you have se_lock OFF, you can only use the slower, tlb version of pcsx2.

why anyone wants to turn off the se_lock privilege is beyond me.

that said, the speed difference is not enormous - if the pcsx2t version runs very slow, your computer is just not fast enough, se_lock or otherwise.

you have to type a series of "cd" commands to change to the directory that you put setselock.exe in.

otherwise, the easiest thing to do is take a look at where you currently are in the cmd window: the bottom-most line should say something like "C:\>" or "C:\Documents and Settings\d>" - that line tells you where the cmd window currently thinks it is. find that folder in windows explorer, and place the setselock program inside it. then go back to the cmd window and type

setselock on

then hit enter, restart your computer, and it should be working.

i'm sorry if it doesn't work out other than that.. but this isn't exactly user-friendly software, there are some more-complex-than-most-programs steps you'll have to jump through, and it's never guaranteed to work.

plus, your computer may just be too slow to run a ps2 emulator at acceptable speeds.
