I was wondering is their some way you can clone the ps2 memory card you own on to a flash drive, and create / format a virtual memory card onto a flash drive?

If it is possible what memory card file types would I need to label it as for it to work?

you can copy and move files in and out of a memory card into a usb drive, for backup, or for uoloading savegames into the memory card

but usb drives can´t be used as memory cards, because sony wants $$$$$$

you need a modded ps2, and boot an ulaunchelf dvd

you can't use the usb FD as MC, but you can create virtual MC and access the file from usb FD.
you need modded PS2 (or atleast memory card softmodded with FMCB to be able to boot elf file), and HD project (this app has memory card emulator).

i've tested this, but not really recommend to use this method. you need to boot HD project first every time you want to play a game with VMC, and there maybe some problem with compatibility.

best way would be backup/restore save file using uLE to and from usb FD
