Chrono Trigger for gameplay and FInal Fantasy for story.
Reason for my choice is that Chrono Trigger left many questions un answered like, "Where is Schala?". Final Fantasy 3 (or 6) has a finished story line. (I voted FF3)

I liked Chrono Triggers battle system, and the fact that they did away with randon battles. You could see your enemies and avoid (though you were forced to fight at times). FF6 battle system was similar to the rest of the series although I must admit i wasnt too fond of the Espers.

CT's characters were better as was there gameplay & graphics.
FF6 had a superior plot and engaged you more in the game.
All IMO of course ;)

i actually liked the esper system in ff6,
although i like the "hacked" version of ff6 better where they change some things in it to have it make more sense... someone wrote about it in another thread somewhere here...

Chrono Trigger because it's so unique. Even it's poorly concieved sequel didn't have the most of the innavative features that CT had.

Yes, and some are pretty cool like the one you got before going to Magus's castle. You see Frog fighting Magus. By the way, does anyone know who win this fight? The character you see on top of Magus's castle is one of them, but I donnot know which one....

I think frog would have to win...
Just cuz he was the 'true' good guy
Then again it could be left up to the gameplayer to decide in their head...
i havent played ct in a while so i dont remember this part

Chrono Trigger, of course. IMO, it's lightyears away from FF6. Why? well, i think FF6 is just too simple; i really liked it in the beginning but, by the time i got to the flying island or something i got bored. The game lacks more mystery and human drama, and i sincerely don't know why so many people hold this game in such high esteem. Maybe they're just nostalgic...

I think FF6, hands down. I think it's Square's greatest masterpiece... amazingly deep and detailed world, both pre and post apocalyptic. I loved the characters, and it was very rare in that there's no main character at all, there are quite a few playable characters, but they're all developed. Terra, Celes, Locke, Edgar, Cyan, and much more... they all get their chance to shine at different times throughout the game. Graphics, special effects, and battle system definitely go to CT, it was so much FUN and great to play or even watch... But for me, the music and artistic style of FF6 (it was a beautifully designed game, even if the graphics weren't as good as CT) outclass CT, and the plot does as well. And then the villain, Kefka was probably one of the most evil villains in a video game. Constantly deceiving and betraying and killing anyone who got in his way on his climb to the top. Plus he was just plain psychotic.

I also think age makes a difference in this vote... if I was a few years younger I wouldn't have appreciated FF6 at the time it came out and probably would have liked CT more. I know amongst my friends, those of us in the 20something age group prefer FF6, while those 20 and under would go for CT.

i prefer ff6 because of the story music and a few other factors, and i liked ff6's graphics a lot more than ct's, they had more of a classical look to them, and ff6 had enough characters not to feel like it was a set group of people you play through the game but enough to have variety while not going overboard like chrono cross... and each one was a unique character, except maybe umaro gau relm and the mimic, but who cares about those guys when theres complete storylines for celes terra locke sabin edgar and many others... ive no idea why ppl love ct's graphics so much, imo those are overrated, i guess its just because they look cartoonish and most ppl who first played ct were pretty young... well thats my opinion
