sigh. don't convert. I hate brand loyalty as it is not for the better good of society.

Brand loyalty is evil. just always go for the better choice. not the better brand. and in this case, the better choice goes to ATi.

yea Brand Loyalty who needs it has long as their is competition between ATI and NVIDIA I'll be happy since the graphics card will get better and better.....I was gonna get a Radeon 9000 Pro, but then I saw how cheap a GeForce4 TI 4200 was at a pc store I bought the GeForce instead :)

I noticed a significant increase in performance in UT2003 on my 9700 though the performance was already good in that game. These are the first official drivers that support 16-bit AA for the 9700 (it kinda blew my mind that they left it out of the 9700 for so long too, since I still have some 16-bit games in my collection), the 8500 etc already had 16-bit AA though.

Wonderful news, especially since I got an ATI Radeon 9700 pro today. Yes, thats right, I've put up my "trusty" GF4 TI 4600 and I now am going to try the Radeon 9700 pro. I am going to forget about the GF FX for now, since the Ultra has been scrapped. Perhaps I'll go back some day to Nvidia, but for now I plan to throughly enjoy my 9700 pro.
sincerely,

Before you do that Sxamiga. I really think you should look at the latest benches for the geforce FX with the newest drivers.

Well he waited 7 months for a card, And when its becoming available. He's deciding against it because he's been convinced it doesn't perform well. All the newest Geforce Cards The fan doesn't even run 3d mode.

I feel sorry for the guy cause he waited 7 months. And he was getting ripped on for a product he wanted to buy thats not performing worse and is now running more silent ;)

Thanks for the advice ChrisRay. But, I was really interested in the GF FX Ultra and it seems that this is the one that has been discontinued. The none ultra (from what I have read) performs only marginally better, if that, than the 9700 pro. So I don't think I've made to big a mistake, at least I hope not.

Umm..... have to burst your bubble, Sxamiga, but this is an official announcement from nVidia
Over the last week - there have been a number of rumors on the web in reference to the status of NVIDIA GeForce FX GPUs.

As you know the company does not comment on rumors and/or speculation.
Like every new product from NVIDIA - the demand is far greater than the limited supply we will have.
NVIDIA's GeForce FX Ultra 5800 and the GeForce FX 5800 are still targeted to be in retail in late February.

I wouldn't believe everything Nvidia said, Especially now when their a$$es are burning.
I'm not out to make fun of you or anything but that 9700 Pro you've got there is a mighty fine card !
