Is your CD-Rom cant read CDs digitally? without a connection between the SoundCard and your CD Drive.

or You want to handle the Audio Tracks directly from the CD! or open them edit them and...

Here is the Solution a New CD File System that lets you Open your CD with the ability to Copy the Audio Tracks as wave files or compress them directly to MP3 or MP3pro..

E.G: if you have cd with 14 Audio Tracks, the CD with this File System will looks the same , but in addition, if you open the CD you will discover there is two folders:

Folders> Mono Stereo
Sub folders> 16bit 8bit
+Sub folders> 11khz..etc!

there are the Wave files, just choose the Quality you want!

for this New file System download it here..

uh? wot? eh? I can't make out what you are saying.... If you are saying what I think you are saying, digital reading (without cables) isa avaliable on all but y old drives. In Windows2k/XP there are no probs with it. In 9x, if you assign a drive letter to your CD-Rom drive, it won't read digitaly.

I just downloaded the attachment, looks like a dll file which lets your "favorite wave-editor" reads audio files from the CD directly ?!

just extract it to windows\system\iosubsys and just insert Audio CD!
Open it! copy the files or you can manipulate it Directly to MP3 Compressor

to Kane: All CD/DVD-ROM drives can play audio CDs in analogue format (i.e. through head sets or sound card) but not all can read audio data digitally and even then only a few of these drives produce good quality audio reading. So: the digital extraction of audio data is essentially different from simply playing an audio CD. So yo can save the tracks using Digital Recording but not hear them!Unless the cable is connected at least in th PCs that I work on!!!

Besides the Digital Reading from Audio Tracks will never be Satisfactory! For example sometimes there are "jumps" in the audio data which are noticeable as unpleasant clicking noises when playing a saved audio file or listening to a CD Audio!

And believe me. I know What I am talking about! yo gotta learn and learn, dont ever think you have learnt everything!
that What I learnt from ProPrograms like Nero Burning rom after 4 CDs is spoiled! while Burning!!! :(

I don't ever connect up the audio/digital cables on any of the machines I work withand they all play CDs, and rip in digital mode fine.

I don't fully understand.

The thing I understand is that CD-ROMs read Audio CDs by analog. This dll allows for Digital? So it's simply an enhancement of the reading capabilites.

But what are you saying about direct manipulation? By using this dll, the filesystem format of the audio CD can now be accessed freely as if extraction and conversion were built in the O/S without having to go thru 3rd party rippers and stuff?

Kane: If you assign a drive letter to the cd drive, it won't read digitally the audio cd then? How will I read it digitally since I use 98?

>How will I read it digitally since I use 98?

Just let Win98 assign the letter.

This DLL file system will make the Audio Tracks as User Data. since the fact is that all Audio tracks are genuine wave files, it will make simple substitution.

If you noticed, the cd size will be over 1.8GB since the multi files and multi Freqs but they are all the same. just the same as letting the player playing the CD Quality Audio as Telephone Quality thing.

And Kane, you were lucky by the CD-Drives you had, But not all of the ppl has one works as you mintioned, I had e.g: Teac CD writer which can rip CD Audio Digitally but cant play audio unless the cable is connected, but my LG Drive works fine..

And what about let windows assign letter for CD-Roms???

I think you should go to ControlPanel->Multimedia->CD Music

then if the Check Box is not greyed, it supports the Digital Recording and playing, and vice versa!

That box will be greyed if you set a dive letter up in Windows 98, but if you remove the reg enties to do that, it'll work fine.

>the Hole for earphone on Front the CDROM is for what?
>i can't hear nothin from there?

Try turning up the volume on the drive. There is a volume slider on the front of the drive.

Will I think its for playing Audio CDs wothout the sound Card, I was able to play my Audio CDs while the sound card drivers not installed, its like the real CD player, and the button next to the eject button is to change the track.

It's a strange little proggy, especially if your too lazy to buy a 5 buck audio cable to go from the CD-rom to the sound :eyes:
That's interesting. Both my CDROM and my CDRW came with digital audio cables and they play audio cd's fine through the soundcard.

My motherboard only has one slot for the digital cable. So, only my CDRW has it. Besides, my CD-ROM is out of comission anyway.

But the raw manipulation capability, eh? I gotta try that out when I get the time.
