Hi Everyone,

I am getting about 17-22 FPS on Final Fantasy X and rarely hit 30 FPS. It is playable at this point. I have a similar scenario with Kingdom Hearts as well.

Here are the plugins I'm using:

Graphics: GSDX SSSE3 0.1.7
Sound: Zero SPU2 0.4.4
CDVDrom: Linuzapps

Here are the specs (I apologize if it's limited info; again, I'm not that much of a tech wiz):

Intel core2 duo CPU @ 1.20 GHz
.97 GB Ram

I am thinking of getting Final Fantasy 12 but was wondering if there was any point. Does it run similarly to FFX and KH or does it require more umph since I don't have the fastest computer? Just to give you an idea, I also have Tales of the Abyss and Dragon Quest 8 and those run very slow (10-20 fps normally) and are virtually unplayable to me. Where does FFXII stand compared to these other games?

Thanks a bunch.

Umm there is no core2duo clocked that low...you didn't take 2.4 and divide it by 2 did you? :p
If you do infact have the 2.4 clocked model, you should be getting way better speeds than that. You should enabe all dual core options in the config->cpu menu and do check if the emulator is using both of your cores (use task manager by pressing clt+alt+delete and going to performance tab)

it's strange how your cpu can manage ssse3 ?

hmmm...

I'm not a tech wiz at all. When I right-click on my computer and go to properties it gives me intel core 2 duo CPU U7600 @ 1.20 GHz. Does that meat each one is 1.2 or they total 1.2??

Also, I do have all dual core options checked.

I did the clt-alt-del and checked the performance and it said CPU usage is 100%.

What is your take on it?

They usually are ;)
Even though I have a duel core?? There's no way for me to speed it up a bit? I was surprised to see how slow Tales of the Abyss goes because graphically it does not look too much more impressive than FFX or KH. As far as DQ8 goes, I assume the fact that it's cell shaded is more complicated. Is Abyss cell shaded too?

why doesn't mine do that or would I have to have DX 10 graphics card. Everytime I try to use the SSSE3 plugin the emu crashes:cry::cry:

Only Core 2 Duos supports it, and apparently you don't own 1, unless your sig is not updated. AMDs processor does not support SSSE3, only Core 2 Duos do.

Get FFXII and play it on your PS2 console, you don't have to really use the emu to play a game, ppl usually use it for the improvement in graphics and other stuff.

.97 of ram?? oO go for 2GB, PCSX2 only needs 1 gb, but if you have programs running in the backround ( such as anti-virus) 2GB is always good to have

nah, real men use 2gb and clock the memory up to crazy speeds
(only went to 600 with mine, but 1.2ghz mem rocks ;) )

I would rather have fat memory than 4gb of mid-speed memory
What's to stop you from clocking 4gb up to crazy speeds? That's what I did :)

4gb isn't useful for gaming yet. A year or so ago people thought it was crazy to have 2gb, I believe 4gb will become the norm as memory prices drop.

Besides, 4gb is dead-useful if you use programs that take advantage of it. No annoying hitch as the OS pages to/from disk.

fsb boundaries and too much power draw

try getting your 4gb to 1200 with 4.4.4-12 timings ;)
without spending crazy money anyway (or getting ddr3 - sme thing ;) )
