It really is a simple question. Watch: Is there a way, any way at all, to fix a broken Fire Red save? I shouldn't even have to explain what I mean by that. Clearly you guys get that a lot. So can it be done? Can it be done with Squall's 22-step guide? (Survey says: no.) Can it be done with a Fire Red/Leaf Green save editor? (Hell if I know. I haven't been able to find one, and before anyone asks, by golly, I have Googled it. This isn't my first rodeo.) Is there some other technology which could lead me to understanding why the hell this hasn't worked yet?

Now I have a hard question. Why doesn't it work? Why, through at least three years of people coming here and confused, hasn't somebody with coding knowledge finally hunkered down and fixed this ****? And if, like I suspect, some intrepid hermit with a Red Bull fetish has come up with the right tool or technique to allow people less learned to enjoy this game to the fullest, then why the **** hasn't it been shouted from the rooftops? Seriously. All I see here is the same ****ing thing over and over: go to this thread, go to that thread. I did. Both of 'em. Neither one worked. I still have the same problem, but I at least have half a goddamn brain in my head.

See, my problem is this: I understand that to those who found the easy solution, you just delete the save file and start over. If it were my game, that's what I'd do. I'm not exactly sentimental about my Pokemon games. If I were, I wouldn't be asking for a save editor, because I wouldn't even have considered that such things exist. As it is...it's not my game. It's my wife's. She's not quite as tech-savvy as I am, and she's much less patient with things that she's not native to. So she's willing to quit after 56 minutes of gameplay because she doesn't want to do it again, because it's frustrating for her. And I get that more. It matters more to me that she get to play a game she enjoys, at least until I start making enough money to afford a DS again, than it matters that you guys might get butthurt because I'm starting a new thread. So I am. I'm asking for help. I can't quite understand what I'm looking at when I hex it, because I'm not used to looking at emulator saves. (Hell, this is the first time when the game works fine, but the save doesn't.) So if someone does, let me know. If someone can find me a way to fix this save file, excellent. If someone can find me a save editor so I can start a new one and artificially bring it up to snuff, excellent. I just want my wife to be happy.

Your best bet would be to ask Squall over on the VBA-M forums as he's one of the only people I know who knows what goes wrong and who could help you with perhaps a step you did not do entirely correctly.
VBA-M Forums

That's all I can suggest.

The guide says that at the end.

There is none.

Brain enhancements technologies are still in development phase.

a) Nobody cares?
b) The right people are busy with something else?
c) Both?

Maybe people here a sadist who enjoy the agony you (and others) are suffering...

Then, she should not be playing an RPG.
Get her a "casual game" or convince her to start over again.

Yeah...
Right, your wife...
There are several different ways to get your wife happy without pokemon...
Plus, why don't you use some of those save files available at GameFAQs?

Wow. Maybe I should have put in more "don't be a jackass" in my post. First of all: My wife plays nothing but RPGs. She's frustrated not because it's an RPG, but because it's in a format she's not used to. If it were an actual cartridge, it wouldn't be a problem. Full stop. Second, clearly "nobody cares" is factually challenged, as if nobody really cared, there wouldn't be anyone asking for help. Finally, if you're not here to offer help, why did you post in the first place?

Right posting here again for the benefit of others, I hope you don't mind (seeing as I had sent you to VBA-M and you could now only be watching that).
Anyways had a chat to Squall and he says Fire Red saves can't be fixed, only Leaf Green saves can be fixed. And he has no clue why Leaf Green can be fixed either.

So well...somehow you're going to have to explain to your wife that there is no solution.

Don't start her over on Fire Red anyways, if you do then she should play Leaf Green, at least there you have a chance of fixing it if it happens again.
