It really is a simple question. Watch: Is there a way, any way at all, to fix a broken Fire Red save? I shouldn't even have to explain what I mean by that. Clearly you guys get that a lot. So can it be done? Can it be done with Squall's 22-step guide? (Survey says: no.) Can it be done with a Fire Red/Leaf Green save editor? (Hell if I know. I haven't been able to find one, and before anyone asks, by golly, I have Googled it. This isn't my first rodeo.) Is there some other technology which could lead me to understanding why the hell this hasn't worked yet?
Now I have a hard question. Why doesn't it work? Why, through at least three years of people coming here and confused, hasn't somebody with coding knowledge finally hunkered down and fixed this ****? And if, like I suspect, some intrepid hermit with a Red Bull fetish has come up with the right tool or technique to allow people less learned to enjoy this game to the fullest, then why the **** hasn't it been shouted from the rooftops? Seriously. All I see here is the same ****ing thing over and over: go to this thread, go to that thread. I did. Both of 'em. Neither one worked. I still have the same problem, but I at least have half a goddamn brain in my head.
See, my problem is this: I understand that to those who found the easy solution, you just delete the save file and start over. If it were my game, that's what I'd do. I'm not exactly sentimental about my Pokemon games. If I were, I wouldn't be asking for a save editor, because I wouldn't even have considered that such things exist. As it is...it's not my game. It's my wife's. She's not quite as tech-savvy as I am, and she's much less patient with things that she's not native to. So she's willing to quit after 56 minutes of gameplay because she doesn't want to do it again, because it's frustrating for her. And I get that more. It matters more to me that she get to play a game she enjoys, at least until I start making enough money to afford a DS again, than it matters that you guys might get butthurt because I'm starting a new thread. So I am. I'm asking for help. I can't quite understand what I'm looking at when I hex it, because I'm not used to looking at emulator saves. (Hell, this is the first time when the game works fine, but the save doesn't.) So if someone does, let me know. If someone can find me a way to fix this save file, excellent. If someone can find me a save editor so I can start a new one and artificially bring it up to snuff, excellent. I just want my wife to be happy.
