I'm experiencing pausing before and after battles as referenced in this thread.

My graphics card doesn't work with the OpenGL2 plugin, and when I try those settings listed in the thread, I get a "missing frambuffer object extension" error.

Right now I'm using the Pete's OpenGL plugin with these settings, and it works excellently except for the pausing.

I assume that the culprit is this:

other thread said:
framebuffer effects are at 3 because there is a slight pause at certain places (before and after battle) if you dont have it on
but I have no idea how to configure that in other plugins.

My specs:

Athalon 64 3400+
512 MB RAM Dual Channel
ATI Xpress 200

I'm using ePSXe 1.5.2, with an ISO.

Any help would be appreciated.

did you try it off? your hardware is well compatible with very high settings. and i think those frambuffer effects are for petes openGL 2. petes opengl and opengl2 are just as excellent, only petes opengl (not 2) works better for older cards. try with it on 0 (in ff9, it doesn't matter if you got 1, 2 or whatever else than 0, it gives the samme eventual laggs and effects.
oh yeah and in contra of this thread i can assure only ONE crash in 1.6.0 (the famous dali scene (never say it like that to person(s) named dalisene)), else it works like a wonder, 4200ti or 7800gt, i have no problems! (with ti4200 i got some mdec probs when the hilda garde III (or something like that) takes of in the ending scene, but trashing mdec filters fixed that (don't know why i use them anyway).

iso/cd only makes a difference with load time and neccessity of cd-rom plugin (you do not need one).

Well, I tried using Pete's OpenGL2, and it did work fine with my graphics card after I set Render mode on 1 instead of 2. It seems to be working fine now; the pausing has stopped. However, now I have this odd flickering white across the world map.

Here are my settings with Pete's OpenGL2:

Plugin: Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.8
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: ATI Technologies Inc.
GFX card: RADEON XPRESS 200 Series SW TCL x86/MMX/3DNow!/SSE2

Resolution/Color:
- 640x480 Window mode
- Internal X resolution: 1
- Internal Y resolution: 1
- Keep psx aspect ratio:
- No render-to-texture: on

- Filtering: 0
- Hi-Res textures: 0
- TexWin pixel shader: on
- VRam size: 128 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: Auto

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 1
- Framebuffer effects: 3
- Framebuffer uploads: 1

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Mdec filter: on
- Screen filtering: on
- Shader effects: 0/1
- Flicker-fix border size: 1
- GF4/XP crash fix: off
- Game fixes: off [00000000]

AA=Anti-Aliasing, gets rid of jagged edges on objects.
AF=Anisotropic Filtering, improves texture quality, especially ones close to parallel with the camera.

You change both settings in the ATi driver control panel (Display properties->last tab->Advanced, hunt around in the resulting menu).
