Chankast WIP news??

actually today is thursday, so the end of the week should be on saturday so we still have today, friday and saturday ;) also, they said new version PROBABLY this week, not that i would complain about a new version today ;)

it´s not true !!!

I asked GAROFFI about that rumor about emulating dreamcast on a 600mhz PC , and he told me that he never said that the emulator will work on a 600mhz, that they were just rumors and he has never said anything about it . so I don´t think it´s true,
And in my opinion it´s not that important to make chanka run on a 600mhz pc, with nowdays 3,2GHZ processors and increasing in speed!!!! pc´s with 2ghz and above aren´t that expensive !!!! I think we are asking too much :nono:

I´ve never said Garrofi told me that. Unai, told us (around 40 people) that he wants in the future (no near future) make the emulator to run in 600/700 Mhz processors... but this is only a idea !!!!!!!!!

Please, don´t disturb Garrofi with these things... :(

What I've learned from Chankast screenshots is that the DC seems to be really nice system (graphics-wise) and it can be emulated quite well on PCs. My guess is that the people working on this emulator are either in love with the system itself, or they've figured that it is easier to emulate the DC at a somewhat decent speed on older systems. Therefore, why spend lots of time working on a PS2 emulator when full-speed will probably never be achieved on slower systems and when there is already the kickass PCSX2? In other words, I believe the authors are trying to give the NextGen scene an emulator that will make things more interesting for spectators. Sure, they could have gone for the XBox, but it has already been done...

PS: These are just speculations.

Most of emulator programmers are coding for those reasons :

1- challange to emulate specific system .
2- experience and knowledge for the system they want to emulate .
3- many other important reasons

point num 1 is what i mean ; so i think my post is not useless and if they are too tallented they may be in one day think to build / help other ps2 projects or other types projects anyway with theim knowledge that makes the emulator to be developed too fast like the great chanka dreamcast emulator project :thumb:

I think the Dreamcast was an excellent choice for Chanka. Before Chankast the Dreamcast was totally unemulated (I don't count Icarus since it is unreleased) yet it held the promise of being slow/old enough that it would run at full speed on modern PCs. This is something that isn't totally possible or extremely difficult with current gen consoles.

How I see it is its all about the useability of the emulator. Sure PCSX2 is exciting to talk about but who is going to want to play a game at 5 fps? The attention that Chankast has garnered speaks for itself, the Dreamcast was the right choice for this great programming team.

BTW, if you disagree with somebody, starting off your rebuttal with "worthless post" or some other insult does not help your cause. If the post truly is worthless your argument should be able to stand on its own without leaning on such a statement. Remember, you'll get more respect from your peers if you respect others, especially those that may be hard to respect :thumb:

Thanks Gnerma ; i really didn,t mean to don,t respect someone here; it is my opinion in addition that Chanka team respects others by the way they inform us bout progress of The great chanka emulator :thumb: and you are right that this system is not emulated like this before so they are on the right choice :)

so when they said PROBABLY next week, means it is close but they are not sure how close :p

Testing Chankast 0.25

I'm testing a new beta 0.25 right now. You won't believe it !. There are a lot of changes in it. One of them will help to test more games ;) (you will know what i mean)

I can't anticipate anything by now. The public version will arrive between this weekend and July 22-25 (Euskal party in Spain).

Stay close for new news... :)
