Or what? Are you going to do something about it? Seriously though, the authors will support whatever they feel like. I doubt that they did this on purpose.

Windows 2000 aint currently supported... but they are working on implementing the necessary code for future versions, maybe even chankast alpha 0.2
Im on windows 2000 but only bios worked, i tried it on xp and its all fine.

shut the hell up I bet all you can play with this emu cause your on XP if you got XP just stop replying to this topic cause it has nothing to do with you read the GD topic title
You need to change your attitude. You are totally ungrateful for the hard work of these coders. Do you know how many lines of code it takes to write a next gen emu?? you have no coding skill and yet you think you have the right to threaten authors who provide their work to the public for free? Thy didn't TRY to make it not work on windows 2000 it just ended up that way.
I too have heard that will be fixed soon so just chill out. Posting threats to the author is no way to show gratitude. Shame on you.... :cuss2:  :(

You seriously need to cool down. I wouldn't be surprised if you were given a temp ban for that.

To bring this thread back on track, I have had some limited sucess with getting chankast working further than bios mode in win2k.

Setup :

P4/i875/win2k/SP4/dx9.0b

What I had to do was run CDRWin in the background and let it load its own ASPI Layer by grabbing an image (i think, still havent been able to duplicate this on another win2k machine). The game will load, but only when using this method. Hope this helps out Bakou.

Well it's quite frustrating but it doesn't seem like Chanka can actually load games on Win2k, it runs the bios flawlessly and thats all. Although it can recognize the proper length of audio CDs, and I also got it to start ripped Doom for dreamcast (which mind you gets into an infinite loop of restarts, but at least it did SOMETHING!), no regular commerical games seem to run, they are all detected as 8 second audio CDs by the bios.

So far I've tried MvC2, SvC2, Utopia BootCD and virtua tennis, none worked. However, I did speak to at least one person who was able to get a game running on win2k on irc...

Well anyway this is the first program I've ever actually wanted to use that only runs on XP, and I loathe XP. is it likely the Win2k support could be fixed with a patch or a DLL? Would this possibly happen anytime soon? Should I just start installing an XP dualboot now? *drools over emulated MvC2

If you have any good advice please let it be known.

And better use his head. In a PC that can't handle XP, how is chanka supposed to run?

I tried that but it didn't work. I noticed that while having chankast active I wasn't able to read from the cd drive *at all* so something is definitely wrong. Hopefully this bug will be fixed in the next release.

now we only need w9x compat ;)

---> See this link: http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=21285

The whole topic is discussed in the official forum (don't you people read those???), and it looks kinda bad: if those posts are true, then the problem is deep inside win2k. This has nothing to do with the emulator itself, but it is a problem with the ATAPI implementation (NOT Aspi!!), so it is useless waiting for newer versions. Maybe sometime, with custom plugins, but that's quite far away (and is it possible?). ______ And one thing: XP is W2k (see version number: 5.1), with FIXES, and with WHISTLES (the exact opposite of the word "fix"). Since I'm not into those whistles stuff: so much for upgrading (so people DO stick to earlier vesrions). But we can still hope: the newest wip news says: more w2k compatibility.

well I did not really care about being ban cause I do not even look at these forums ne more just give it 2 years and it will be working hell maybe by then I can get my PC fixed to work in XP

My pc can handle XP soz do not say it can't it has be on here before but after some upgrades I may have got some bad hardware or something

If you dont like XP go bleed yourself a copy of Windows 2003. Just find a FAQ on turning it into a workstation which isn't anything someone who knows about Windows won't be able to do on their own anyway (read: it isn't hard).
