Hi,

I'm very happy with the work you guys are doing with this emu. I'm in a spanish translation group working on PS2 games, and I think this emu will come very handy to us (specially to find some graphics in the game, via mem dumps...) I know it's too early yet to use it, but we'll be patient :)

So I just wanted to congratulate you, and say.. keep up the great work! :thumb:

i totally agree. the people who make this emu are doing something truely great. i'ts really nice to be able to keep all my ps1 games on the pc, immortallised. never to lose a savegame cause i lost my memory card. and im looking forward to doing the same with pcsx2 when it gets playable enough. seriosly guys, its nice to see people doing stuff like this.

>"Yes. Its amazing that theses programmers can get a system as powerful as the PS2 emulated on PC"

As said before it has been estimated that the current computers can't handle PS2 emulation. While your comment may not have been literal I thought I would just remind you.

It's not that they can't handle the emulation, it's that they can't run it at a reasonable speed yet :(. Maybe that's what you meant. Just wanted to point that out.

Not sure where you get this information, no one has really estimated this
:thumb: Its good to keep in mind that PCSX2 is not yet complete, chances are it will run at fairly reasonable framerates on current hardware once the Dynamic Recompiler and Plugins are fully up and running and completely optimized. Note the word completely, which means don't expect it anytime soon.

READ THE FECKING STICKIES, speculation is POINTLESS

Heck even us beta testers and the devs can't give a 'reasonable' estimate, but assuming DYNrec / optimisation and well optimised and 'near' complete plugins, you could assume the top end of todays market would have 'no' problems. BUT note this is a mear random guess based on the current progression of development, and I'm tired, so basically, feck knows ;p

I wasn't speculating, I was only repeating what was generally agreed on in previous speculations. And just because something is pointless it doesn't mean you shouldn't do it.

ps2 is a pritty complex machine by comparison to other consoles. it'll probably be slower to emulate then the other 2 consoles on the market (xbox, the other nintendo thingy)
Actually I would say PS2 emulation speeds will be quite comparable to those of XBOX and Gamecube ( :thumb: aka nintendo thingy).

This is to you guys proclaiming XBox emulation to be a piece of cake:

Have you ever heard of WINE? It's a Windows API wrapper for Linux that intercepts Windows API calls to the OS and translates them into their Linux counterparts. It seems fairly straightforward and simple, but consider how long it's been developed and the level it's at. Yes, it's running some Windows applications quite flawlessly, but many still have problems.

From what I understand, CXBX works the same way. It intercepts API calls to the XBox's OS and translates them into regular Windows API calls. As demonstrated by WINE, that's no easy job.
