Anyone got one of theses to work? http://www.emulatronia.com/reportajes/directpad/psxeng/index.htm
I have made one and double checked all the wiring but I still can't get mine going.
When I try to install the driver, it tells me the pad is not configured and to consult device manager but when I do that there is no configure option. It also doesn't show up on my list of controllers when I go control panel> gaming options so I can't configure it there either.
I have Windows ME

Did you follow the instructions on the "software" page on that website? (Click on software on the left side)

Since you have Windows ME, you only need to download DirectPad 5.0 from that page, and then follow the steps.

If you encounter a problem following the steps, please tell us what happens at which step on that page.

Yes, I followed the instructions.

"Get the newest DirectPad drivers above and unzip it to a temp directory anywhere, ei., C:\DPAD. "
Yep, thats Fine

"Once the pad and the DB-25 connector are connected to the parallel port, Open the Control Panel and double click on Games Controllers."
Ok, fine

"Click on Add... then Add Other... click on Have Disk... and then browse to when you unziped it. (C:\DPAD) Click OK a couple of times then Finish to complete the install of the driver."
I do this, but when I click OK, it says the pad isn't configured, consult the device manager. When I go to the device manager it says "directpad controller" or something like that but there is no configure tab or no way to configure it

"For me I had to click Add... again then select DriectPad Pro Force Feedback Controller and ok to add it"
When I go to control panel> game controllers there are no controllers on the list to click on. Maybe I'm supposed to be configuring something.

"It should now be listed in the section with your other controllers"
I don't have any other controllers but theres nothing there anyway.

"On the Configure tab select the Controller Type you want (PSX digital or PSX left/right Analog)
You can go through the other settings and tabs to completely change everything but for the first time you should leave most of it alone. Maybe except to Calibrate the controller"

There is no configure tab as there is no controller listed.

Thanks in advance

In Gaming Options you would see a blank list at first.
Then you have to click on Add again, which should show a big list. Scroll down to find DirectPad Pro.

hmm, that's weird... the DirectPad Pro driver doesn't actually use a game port (it uses your parallel port), but it's possible that the driver or the control panel needs a game port to be configured anyway (which would be a bug).
Which motherboard and soundcard do you have? Because either one could have a game port that you can enable. Unless this is a laptop... hmm

I don't think I have that sound card, well I couldn't find it anyway. The only sound related thing I could find in device manager was "Soundmax Integrated Digital Audio" I installed DirectX but it hasn't seemed to have made a difference.
I've triple checked the wiring and it's fine but it seems like a software problem from what I can see.
Thanks a lot for the help, I really appreciate it.

if that problem happens to me, i just reinstall DirectX.
try that it could solve the probs.
For the pad problem can you take a picture of the circuit that you have done, so we all can lokk and try to solve your problem.
I'd used PSXpad circuit(if you use Win XP u should use this), it works fine on my pc.
