some animes just got too much hype. Or, they just plain sucked. Personally, I never liked Neon Genesis Evangelion. The whole thing seemed like a rip off of Gundam.

Hrmm.. You'll fan alot of flames with that remark...
Evangelion has a very deep rooted story IMO.. that makes it good..
So is Akira, which IIRC, created the whole anime mania in the US...
One anime i despise is Gundam G, which is IMO worst of all the gundam series..

I liked akira some what, although the whole "tetsuo turns into A blob" was strange, also the ending seemed...lacking. I admit, G Gundam wasn't the best in the series, but it wasn't the worst.

Pokemon, Digimon, Dragonball(s) Z and modifications, Final Fantasy Unlimited. Or in simple, all overhyped kidstuff anime that probaply dont even know what anime is. :lol:
Alexander06, i presume that you expected Evangelion to be some sort of Mecha action? If so, then its not surprised you got dissapointed, since evangelion is mindf**k drama. Mecha part is just mere shell. (or what would be proper word to describe it). I havent seen Gundam, so i might be wrong what i thought you expected.

trying to saturate big 'bots with a good storyline is a BAD idea. ( hey, everyone has their own opinion ) Evangelion is on of those love it, or hate it animes. sadly im one of the latter. it just really didn't appeal to me. Also, i was thinking: yu-gi-oh is just a sad pokemon cash in. i vote we find the world surplus of yu-gi-oh cards...and burn 'em....ahhhh....fire. ^.^

Hmmm. Never seen of fumoffu or Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien. For that matter, i never saw Full Metal Panic...although i've heard things 'bout it.

Overall, dragonball and its following series were full of crap
ya, the intent was to create the longest-running anime with highly stylized action, but it got far too drawn out, the cell games and majin buu sections of dbz just got plain boring, and the storyline just dissappeared
However, in this thread, I must say that the Rurouni Kenshin series is the best anime series I have viewed thus far. (OKay, so I have not yet watched trigun, but from what i have read about its philosophy and storyline, I don't feel like I will watch it anytime soon.)

That is DEFINETLY true. Too bad you didnt like it. Its just i tried to make sure why you disliked it. I have seen many people with attidute "evangelion suX suX Suxx0rs a$$h0le", just because they watched it without even giving it a thought what it truly is. which series? mainly their all about a federation ( zion ) and rebels fighting. in mechs.
Hehe really? Well, I hated FMP coz they always try to act high tech and such...althought they definitely aren't. And fumoffu.. it's funny, sure. But after 5 mins, i find that it's bloody meaningless. Comparable to south park, prolly. KimiNozo? *yawn* I've never watched such a slow paced anime in my life before. But hey, that's just me

Wow, I can't believe there's someone out there who doesn't know what type of anime Gundam is.
It's political, action, mechs, love stories. There's a ton of Gundam series also.
The only one's I've seen are Gundam Seed and Gundam Wing. I liked both of them but I liked Seed the most. A lot of people either HATE IT or they LOVE IT. Personal preferences thing I guess.
Well, for people who don't know what's high tech in the military, it doesn't really matter. That can't be the only fault you find in FMP, right?Chinoz said:

BTW, if you guys want to see a really girly anime with a crap load of drama and crying then see Fushigi Yuugi. I can stand drama if it's 13 or 26 eps long but 52 episodes and about 10 OVAs? No thanks. It doesn't mean that I didn't give it a chance. I saw all 52 episodes and I saw about 4 OVAs but I started seeing better stuff and I just deleted the remaining OVAs of my HD for space.
Whoa!! How can the three of them be hated? oO. FMP had the best combination of comedy, mecha and romance ever. FMP fumoffu is even more hilarious, never a dull moment, always funny. It never had a specific storyline, but that can be said to many other anime series, like Azumanga Diaoh. Kimi Ga Nozumo Eien is the story of 4 friends and their lifes, how its been affected by an accident, and how their feelings got ( dunno what should i say,...perhaps "confused" is the right word? ). I dont think that anime sucks at all.
As for Gundam, I agree completely that SEED and Wing are the best of that series. The rest are okay ( like Gundam X ) or just pure mecha action.

I'm inclined to agree. FMP was well thought out, and although at some points it tailed off, it was very enjoyable. Fumoffu was just hilarious from beginning to end and KGNE had a really strong plot with good twists, and you were never sure how it was gonna end.
As for anime I hate? Digimon, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Dragonball are the names that immidiately jump to mind.
I thought NGE was a great story with a lot of thinking involved, quite unlike the original Mobile Suit Gundam series IMO, and as has already been mentioned, the 'mobile suits' were not integral to the plot. It could have been any device to save mankind that only 14-year olds could pilot.
