Contoler : MS Sidewinder
Emulator : ePSXe Ver.: 1.6

1. Were you able to set buttons in the gfampad config options? Does windows recongnize your controller?

2. Set FPS limit to 60 for NTSC/USA or 50 for PAL/JP/UK.

Make sure you have all the newest plugins and ePSXe version. 1.6.0 is new. You might still be using 1.5.2. All the newest emulator files can be found on this site.

EDIT: Just saw that you are using 1.6.0, sorry.

Any PAL version is 50.
You tried pressing F4 or F5?

Well, when i start up FF6 I cannot even select new game... my keyboard somewhat stops to work. I can skip the intro file but when the "clouds" is drawn there is pretty much nothing I can do.
What can I do about that?

-Update!-
Now I see that all my games are like that. My controllerconfiguration does not work and I am using nothing but the Keyboard. I cannot find any "special" Key-Configuration plugins so if anyone has a tip... I would be delighted to hear it.

yeah, you need to change the pad from analogic to digital or vice versa....i had the same problem when i was trying to run the BIOS to edit my memory card saves

THx 4 all your help ... but it didn´t work by me with ePSXe i have the same problem like Zore but with PSXeven it runs well and thx 4 the tipp with the frames now it runs better and didn´t hang.

For all with the same Problem my Plugins:
Emulator : PSXeven ver. :0.17b
GPU : Peops Soft Driver 1.15
or : Pete´s openGL Driver 1.73
SPU : Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41
CDRom : Sapu´s CD-Rom Plugin
Controller Plugin : TSG DirectInputKeys & Gamepad Driver

Yep, My controller doesent work with FF6 on ePSXe either. I really dont want to have to use two different emulators for one console.

I have tried pressing F5 and changing to digital on my gamepad but nothing works!!!!!

My suggestion, get the SNES version.
good idea, i hadnt thought of that. get FF3 and play it on ZSNES or SNES9X, it will be much more pleasant than playing FFA on ePSXe, or even FFA on a real PSX; i personally cant stand the slowdowns and such

yeah but IMO they are not worth it.

iceflow, trying using another emulator and see what happens. also you maybe want to try using your keyboard, just in case.

attach a pic of your controller config screen, please.

make sure that it says "digital" up there where it now says "digital/analog". otherwise press F5 in game. if it doesnt work, press it again (it keeps cycling through)

also, it says the POV buttons are being using for the pad and it seems like joysticks for the analogs. make sure you are using the buttons assigned for the pad since FF6 has no analog support
