I just finished this script and thought some other people might be interested.
--- FLaRe85's WMP nowPlaying Script for mIRC ---

[ Background ]
Have you ever noticed the abundance of Winamp nowPlaying scripts out there?
There's a ton of them! Yet, if you search for a similar script to use with
Windows Media Player, you usually turn up empty. That's, at least, what
happened to me. So, I figured that I had no other choice but to conjur up
my efforts and attempt my own script. This script is the result of those
efforts. I hope you enjoy it. :)

[ Features ]
- Automatic parsing of the following:
* Author
* Title
* Duration
* Format
* Bitrate
- Recognizes a stopped or halted playstate and displays accordingly
- Support for all of WMP's native formats

[ Requirements ]
- mIRC v6.0x
- Windows Media Player 9

[ Installation ]
1) Run the included NowPlaySetup2.exe to install the required WMP Plugin
Leave all settings at default (the included ini file will handle that)
2) If your mIRC client is installed at the default location skip this step
Otherwise:
Open NowPlaying.ini and edit the string "C:\Program Files\mIRC\nowplaying.txt"
to point to your mIRC program directory leaving "nowplaying.txt" intact
3) Copy NowPlaying.ini to your WINDOWS directory
4) Copy nowPlaying.mrc to your mIRC program directory
5) Start mIRC and type "/load -rs nowPlaying.mrc" then return to load the script

You should be all set and ready to go! :D

[ Usage ]
- Type /wmp at the prompt or select WMP Song Info from the right-click menu
Enjoy! :)

Sweet, for the 20 minutes that I used WMP over winamp, I was looking for this. It was just one of the few reasons I switched back to Winamp, although I don't think you can fix the other issue (WMPis hideously slow when dealing with my playlist, upwards of 10000 files)

it works fine.

You need to use the take ownership hack on the specific file on a x64 system in order to have write permissions to it, as well as directing the mirc to use the file in the correct location.

There are some error messages that occur when the library information updates but ignoring them until the update completes and it'll run fine.

this is the only version.

there is another script like that, but it was annoying to set up.
