wow this is the first time i´ve ever saw nfs porsche for the psx and i´m impressed at how much worse it looks compared with the pc version, that was one of the best racing game i´ve ever played VERY beautiful, great tracks, great speed, nice cars, much fun and multiplayer !!! , that was until i lost my cd :(

now there´s this crappy hot pursuit 2 thing for pc :|

it is true, that the pc version is very different.
Kane has repeatedly said that the PSX does not have a z-buffer or a w-buffer and you need one or the other for antistroperic filtering to have any effect. And no a z or w-buffer can't be emulated.

well, i have that game, and i've only played it on my ps (eventually i'll try it on epsxe), and that game has THE WORST collision detection EVER. if u look at the review at gamespot, they mention it in the 2 sentence summary before you click on the full review button (guess that means its really bad...). the game is decent, but the gfx look WAY worse on a ps and tv than on comp. i like to take the older cars, such as a '65-'67 911 or a 356 and drive around at normal speed on the germany test drive. its pretty fun doin that. its also fun to take a GT1 and irritate the cops on the usa test drive :p (u piggies cant catch meee :D )

your car looks a little more flat. NTSC version of the game?...
to fix that, go into the game options at the main menu and change the aspect ratio. i had to change it from normal to widescreen to have it display properly on my tv, even tho my tv isnt widescreen...
o ya the pics that manx_bkk posted look about the same as on a real ps (or ps2) and tv.

NFS Porsche is My favorite. I used to play it on my PSX until one day i bought a new PC & got the emulator
I used to be a Pro  at this game when playing on the PlayStation,

the PC version of this game is better; sure, but this one is VERY different; that's why it's cool to have ;)

pretty bad collision detection yes; one of the screenshots I posted has the car out of the track ;)

also, gfx indeed not as impressive as the pc version, but it looks good for a psx game.

and I agree; if you look at the differences between NFS5 pc and NFS6 pc.... NFS5 pc was really made for the PC environment; NFS6 is a crappy port of a watered down xbox version of a good ps2 game. :/

ya i remeber the first time i saw a pic of the pc version, it looked NOTHING like the ps version. i like the ps version, because the game has a lot of cars and the races are pretty long, especially the later ones. the handling of a couple of cars is way off tho, some of them feel like youre driving on ice (late '70's 911 turbo pops into my head), but overall, the game isn't bad at all.

sometime later i'll take some pics of it running on my comp (...slow...)

pic from my comp

here's what it looks like on my comp. notice the fps counter. i told u it would run slow :p here are the settings i used for the game.

here's another pic, this time i changed it to fullscreen (800x600) and set the framebuffer access to 3 (not sure what difference it makes). on night races, the fps goes up a little, and when i do bumper view, it goes up by about 4-8 fps.
