Roleplaying games aren't just about taking control of a character. It's a lot about stat building. You have the 'Classic' RPGs where it's based on pen and paper RPG systems, like Baldurs Gate or Morrowind. Generally these are quite free. Morrowind especialy... so much so that I really have no clue about what to do when I play it. You have 'Console' RPGs like Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger, which generaly have a turn based or psudo turn based battle system and a quite linear plot line. Then you have the action RPGs, like Kingdom Hearts or Secret of Mana, which are essentialy console RPGs with a different battle system, and maybe a little less emphasis on the plot, and more on the gameplay. This is the closest to Zelda, but Zelda is too simplistic to really be countd as an RPG. Thus the Action-adventure monniker.

zelda is an Action-adventure -rpg after you beat a boss in a level do you not get a heart? you get an extra heart in a sense that is leveling up you get new weapons in the dungons thats building your skill in a way

its about just like kingdom hearts but in kh you level up and in zelda you get an extra heart

there is also a maximum of hearts you can have well...thats you maximum level!!

and kane about what you posted about the sales the reason why its isnt selling any better is because everyone already pre orderd it!! its been the best pre order sells to date!!!, and i dont quite think i wanna go by some site i my self has never heard of i think ill wait untill playstation tries to bash it or ill just read a gameing magazine besides nintendo power or ps magazine

Thier Sources are http://www.dengekionline.com/ and Namae No Nai Heya. Two not unrespectable sites in Japan. So it had a big pre-order? And? That just means it's got some hardcore fans.

Leveling up isn't just about adding health. All stats are affected, and individual items and accesories can modify those values.
It's like saying MGS is an RPG simply because the character gains health after beating a boss.

Actually the big pre-order thing was only here in the states. In japan, it hasn't been received well at all. (funnier that its been received better here in the states when it seemed development was aimed toward the japanese audience).

And Zelda really is an action adventure game. It does seem to lean toward an rpg because of its fantasy story line, but nevertheless it is an adventure game:

http://www.nintendo.com/games/gamepage/gamepage_main.jsp?game_id=823

In any case, the game is great and it doesn't matter what genre its in. Just enjoy it and let the naysayers miss out on this great game.

by the way i'm getting anoyed by the map being so big, i have to find some kinda portal to travel faster trough the map!!!!
good luck to all the players and if ya wanna know something about the game just ask me!!!!

the_morbidus, I know that you can get three, I found one on an enemy ship but I didn't get the other one and have no idea where the fourth one is. Also, eventually (around after you get the hero's Bow) you can get a faster way to travel around but the Hero's bow comes a while into the game.

cool , thanks for the tip,i will tell you guys the spots for each big octo, you'll get a piece of heart from each treasure they leave behind :

from the map i did before:
F1
C3
F3
E5
A6
D7

for the subs:
D1
F1
G2
D4
F5
C7
G7

to find the subs or the octos, just search around the island.

Semi Spoiler:

The other bottle is found after you visit the Forsaken Fortress again and rescue the three girls. After you do that go to Windfall Island at night, you'll see one of the girls you rescued, talk to her once, after she tells you to go away start walking up the stairs. She'll start running away, follow her very cautiously, when she stops at the safe run up behind her, tell her your An Ally Of Justice and DO NOT let her go, she'll give you a bottle for being such a good role model.

I forgot to mention, when I picked up my copy of WW I also picked up a walkthrough for it. Haven't needed to use it for the game at all yet but it has all the secrets and crap, if your missin' anything or need help in a part, feel free to ask me :p

well i have been checking the walkthrough and why that f-u-c-k the game has so less temples than all the other games????
it was the same s-h-i-t for majora's mask only four temples???

if thats the case then the game really sucks because i was expecting one with at least 8 temples, in the link to the past it had somewhere close to 12 temples(including the castle), it sucks this way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's see... 1. Forsaken Fortress X2. 2. Dragon Roost Island 3. Forbidden Woods 4. Tower of the Gods 5. Earth Temple 6. Wind Temple. 7. Ganon's Tower. Not to mention all the OTHER crap you can do regarding all the Islands etc.

Quality not Quantity. Its a great game through and through.

Also, one of my favorite end boss fights in Ganon's Tower. Not to give too much away to those who haven't beaten it...

And just in case your point wasn't made abundantly clear (since some people are sure to claim those are all RPGs):

In Super Mario Bros., you take the role of Mario (or Luigi, if you're a reject second player!). In Breakout (or Pong, if you please), you take the role of a paddle. In Tetris, you take the role of GIANT FALLING BLOCKS.

If you think any of the above are RPGs, I have a good deal on a labotamy you might be interested in.

i think you need to fill up your magic meter.......
when you equip the arrows press r once and it will change to fire arrows and fire the ones you want, press r again and it will change to ice arrows, no ,there is only normal arrows to buy, magic turns them into fire or ice arrows.
