>I like it on capcom vs snk...for real. not kidding

*shudders*
OK, lets describe what I feel is wrong with the DC pad for fighters.
  1. The D-Pad is uncomfortable as hell. Last time I used my DC pad, I stripped the skin off my thumb.
  2. The front buttons ar uncomfortably positioned, notably the 'X' and 'B' buttons. Considering in Beat-em-ups those are the buttons I normally use most.....
  3. The shoulder buttons. I don't think I cvan say a single good thing about these. I never know i i've pressed them hard enough
  4. The vibration pack is stupidly heavy. Why didn't they do a light internal rumble like the PSX dual shock and the GC pad. My arms feel like they've been heftin London bridge after any reasonable amount of play
  5. My fingers get trapped behind the damn shoulder buttons. It feels like there is a weasel chewing at my dfamned fingertips.
Need more?

ouch...I did have a pc pad that did that, but the DC one, I really like it. It never hurt me ;)

remap em? I never try to press em that way even...though now that you mention it, yup, they have a bigger distance than on other pads.

agreed that the shoulder buttons could have been better.

dont have one, dont have a vmu either, just cheap 3rd party memorycards, so I cant comment on that.

My fingers get trapped behind the damn shoulder buttons. It feels like there is a weasel chewing at my dfamned fingertips.
trapped? I dont see how you possibly could trap your fingers...how do you hold your pad?

Need more?
sure :p

I only found it comfortable for 3D fighting games like SC and DoA2... playing Capcom fighting games with the DC pad is the same as "button mashing" ;)

a) I'm not a FAN ! Get it into your system ;)

b) I'm not biased anymore toward the XBOX (aka no more posts where I say "MS is evil") I didn't praise them... the difference between those states is quite subtle...

As for the DC gamepad issue the most notorious problem was the oversized slot for the VMUs...

>ouch...I did have a pc pad that did that, but the DC one, I really like it. It never hurt me

It's not smooth loke my Snes and PS2 pads. It just slowly wears away my thumb.

>remap em? I never try to press em that way even...though now that you mention it, yup, they have a bigger distance than on other pads.

Why should I remap my buttons for a **** pad, when all my other consoles have a far better more intuitive layout (note in this I'm ignoring the even more dire GC pad). No thanbks, I'll just use my PS2 pad.

>trapped? I dont see how you possibly could trap your fingers...how do you hold your pad?

Well your first finger goues round the trigger, and your second underneath ut. The second fingers on bo hands weel utter shite after any knind of length of time.

>sure

Well there's the bulkiness, the horrible reach for hte analog stick, the dreadful possitioning of the contoller cable.....

It's still completely baka. It's like it was desinged by children smoking pot.

You'd think they'd learn after the disaster that was the Saturn pad (diabolical, over-responsive d-pad, unresponsive shoulder buttons that don't even feel like they should there, uncomfortable grip, ridiculously short cable) but no. They go and make 2 further disasterously bad pads.

/me screams.
The Megadrive pad was good. The Saturn pad was blocky and uncomfortable, and never did waht you told the bastard to do.

the megadrive pad good?

well...hum hum...it's so so..

About the dc pads; I do agree that they're kind of big. they're space shuttles twice the size of a gba or ngpocket. true.

again, love the d-pad.

you're holding the second finger too high :p
I just tried that and indeed, that gets them squeezed. Guess I hold the pad slightly different....and nah,I dont have really weird hands. ;)

analog stick is in the right place IMO; I find the stick on the tiny size but that goes for all analog controllers on pads, however, thats something you can get used too...the controller cable tends to curl itself up, thats annoying (perhaps has to do with the positioning yeah).

I dont think it's the "ultimate" controller, but I like it. I like my dual analog pc pad better though (I'd rate the d-pad of that one equal in quality to the dc-one (which is IMO a good quality), though slightly different). As for the psx' dpad, cant comment on that because I dont use one often (dont have a ps) and I'd have to get a little used to it first probably.

I do not really like gravis gamepad pro's...

May be using it for some time may make it comfortable, but if you are using a Dual Shock or its younger brother, then the DC pads become more and more painfull :p

Well, I infact use the psx-DC adapter with my DC.

now that's exaggerating ;)

but uhm...if you want really decent controllers, nothing beats these :p (excuse the bad image quality)

I can break that in 2 minutes :p

BTW, I was expecting a racing wheel in that pic :p

that's the deal. You can't. Those things are say, 10 years old. I've got 2 of them, second hand for use with my MSX....they are still working as if they were new; they never break.

as soon as they make models that fit on my desk, work alongside other controllers, dont take much room and not take 20 minutes to config, sure.

You may be a cool customer. Heck, I have even broken a Sidewinder :p
