IMO, RPGs are what made the SNES the best 16bits console

Bah, that can be argued... Sega didn't have Square on its side and yet managed to produce some of the most memorable RPGs of the gaming story...

Really? Only one that springs to mind is Shing Force 2. Phantasy Star was cack IMO.

i didn't care for any of the phantasy stars except the 4th one, but that one was great.

Well, that's your opinion... Phantasy Star featured an impressive plot, from the very first game to the last one PS IV End of the Millenium. The only weak title of the saga was PS III Generation of Doom... the others ? They were magnificent...
Shining Force II was great but so it was the first one. You also have Wonderboy in Monster World, the most fitting counter-part to Zelda.
The Snes was the "best" 16 bits console, but that was thanks to Square and Enix (well, actually I hated Enix's games), Sega didn't rely on anyone else (well actually a few RPGs on the genesis were from other companies, and in the SegaCD the greatest were from Game Arts and Working designs)...

yeah, ever since i played dragon warrior 7, i've been wondering about placing any faith in enix.

Mmmm... well I didn't played any of the DW games so I can't cast an opinion on them, but the only Enix game that I liked was Illusion of Gaia I found the rest to be quite boring...
Oh and I forgot to add Golden Axe Warrior to the list of classic rpgs...

you only like IoG as a classic enix rpg, or from enix games even on PSX?

I never played a PSX RPG from Enix... from the classic ones IoG is the only one that I liked...

well, you should definetly play valkyrie profile and star ocean if you haven't (unless, you didn't like them). thats 2 of their saving graces.

PLZ, go play Phantasy Star 1 for master system!!! Its a really really really great game! The best of 'em!

Anyway, here's my list:

Nes: Magic of Sheherazade, Final Fantasy 2

Master: Phantasy Star, Ys

Mega: Shining in the Darkness, Shining Force 1 & 2, Phantasy Star 2

Snes: Seiken Densetsu 3, Final Fantasy 4 (NOT the sucky US version!) Final Fantasy 5, Final Fantasy 6 (The japanese version!)

i would, but i've gotten impatient with rpgs and can only play great graphic ones, besides i have parasite eve 2 and tales of destiny 2 waiting for me. the simple old ones wouldn't do it for me anymore.
