almighty bob, Lufia is an excellent RPG on the SNES. It is quite involving and the graphics are really nice. It's full title is Lufia and the Fortress of Doom. There is also a sequel, Lufia II on the SNES which is quite long and complicated, a real challange, but also a must have. These two games can still be found aound, if you look for them.
Then on GBC there is a Lufia game as well, it is called Lufia the Legend Returns. It is quitte an involving game as well and a lot of fun to play. I have it and play it on my GBA. Lastly, there is a Lufia game coming for GBA in March I believe. It is called Lufia Legends of Lore. I have seen the box and it looks very good also. I have it on pre-order.
So as you can see, the Lufia series is quite involved and definately worth giving a "look" to. Try one, try them all, I can almost guarentee you won't be disappointed.
BTW, Lunar: SSSC on PSX doesn't really count since it is a 32 bit RPG not an 8 or 16 bit one, which was called for. But since it is based off the excellent 16 bit version (Sega CD), IMHO it is allright for it to be there.

I quite liked Lufia 2 myself, but never got round to completing it, like so many RPGs.

i had finished lufia 2 i think, but i never spent the time to play the first one.
i played the 2 BoFs but, i wasn't too impressed. i don't remember chrono trigger or FF6, but they'd probably be on the list if i were to play them again.
