I dont think that Pete's plugins will show more than it did. I mean, The new releases are just fixes to common bugs in the previous ones. I expect Pete to release his Final version of his plugin at anytime ( personal opinion)

when your saying Final Version.... your meaning he will stop working on the plugin or that the plugin will be perfect and there will be nothing left to change? I think that someday he'll stop due to lack of interest but it wouldnt surprise me if he goes into PS2 plugins. He's da man!!

Yes, i meant the very last version of his plugin, no more updates. As for PS2 plugins, its his choice after all. He has proven to us how good he is in C++ programming, so hes done with " creating psx emualtor plugin challange " right now. Weather he accepts the "PS2 emulator challange" is a question that should be directed to him....

chrisray, the PS2 emulation is in very early stages. I heard that he's been giving some words of advice to the emu authors, but i dunno about weather he will join thier team or not.....

Ya thats what I thought. Didn't think it was far enough along to even bother with a GPU. effectively how much of the PS2 has been emulated so far anyway?

mmm,......I didnt see the source code yet, so i cant tell from that. But, judging from the screenshots posted, i would say that the dreamcast and PS2 emu are about the same stage in Video development. Because i dont have a PS2 demo to test the PS2emus , i cannot comment on the sound and input progress......

PS2 Emulation of commercial games will take a very long time to complete due to a lot of obstacles like :

- Games being released on DVD format , as well as Cd Format.
- Backward compatibility with PS games.
- The Fact that no system which plays actual 3d games has been emulated perfect yet.

PS2 uses the same Vector Chips (That's the right name I guess) the N64 uses and altough N64 emulation has come far , it's already been about 6 years since the release of the N64 , so don't expect a PS2 emu being as far as N64 emus are now for that period.

But to stay ON TOPIC :

An update to the best OGL/D3D plugin currently available.

Thanks go ouy to Pete for making it once again.

the backward compatibility won't bother the ps2 emu makers cause da real ps2 is not backwards compatible... there's just a separate part of the ps2box wich does that one... so the ps2 contains a ps1 too in it.... pretty weird... but as i've heard that's the truth....

It's actualy taht the SPU is identical to the PSX CPU..... IIRC.

a PS2 is somehow a modiefed PSX , although its not very true describing it this way. But for the part you mentioned about a seperate hardware in the PS2 which runs PSX games,....well, it doesnt seem right to me, thats like making two consoles in one or something.....

Yes, it's true the PS2 is basically 2 systems in 1, it has a 300Mhz 128bit MIPS R5900 for the main CPU, and a 33Mhz 32bit MIPS R3000 CPU for the I/O controller...this also operates as the core cpu for the PS1 when playing standard playstation games.

but the PS2's, PS1 mode, doesn't compare to the video quality that can be achieved with pete's GPU ;)
