As far as I can tell, the Ultimate Edition is just a way to preorder the Season Pass for 40$ instead of 50$.
The season pass seems to be exclusively for multiplayer content. And it seems to give you ownership of content that will be available for free temporarily but removed to keep it "fresh".
Basically, the season pass is only worth the extra money if you care so much about the multiplayer aspect of GoW4 that you don't want to ever lose a map that is being made artificially rare by the developers removing it from the game.

Otherwise, buy the 60$ version.
That makes perfect sense and you are right as i don't care about MP shooters but love the campaign of Gears. Thank you bro!

The WinStore currently has issues (of course it does) when downloading games. Game downloads do not always resume and will sometime reset to 0. It's been a pretty common issue and MS has released an update to help fix this.
So, everyone should make sure their W10 is fully updated if they want to avoid losing download progress. (Note: you already need the Anniversary update to play their recent and future games anyway)
This is the current update fixing this: Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3194496).

By the way, I know you don't like the multiplayer, but we could always give it a try on PC if you want. I expect latency to be a small problem, but we can try it anyway.

Nice! i don't like MP shooters because i suck at it :p but i guess a try would be great :)
(but still keep away from the Ultimate Edition, the core version is fine for MP)
You know games are getting crazy when they're $1.33 a gigabyte.
I imagine that for Australians its closer to 2$ a gigabyte. Still, not bad compared to before.

Two not-so good news regarding MS and Windows 10:
1) They quickly released a patch for Forza Horizon 3, which was meant to fix many of the issues people faced with the game. The good news is that this shows they're willing to admit the product can be improved and that they're willing to work. This is great, this is the perfect approach. The downside is that the patch just didn't work for many people. It seems to have helped a limited amount of users, which is at least something.
Some people also complained about the game not giving them the "patch" (which was apparently around 2gb) and simply redownloaded the entire game.

2) After the recent win10 update, some people have had stutters when playing games. The issue was found to be related to the Xbox App, which would sometime record gameplay on its own without being prompted to do so. Some people didn't realize that MS typically reset settings (and apps) to their default states after upgrading/updating. Some of those affected had previously disabled the app, the update turned it back on.
The simplest way to get rid of the issue is to open the xbox app and disable every recording feature. Some people have gone a step further and removed the entire app from the OS, but I wouldn't recommend going that far. Some aspects of W10 require other apps to be enabled or else they crash/only partially work. For people who want to disable recording through the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameDVR
AppCaptureEnabled (DWORD)
0 = Off
1 = On

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore
GameDVR_Enabled (DWORD)
0 = Off
1 = On

GoW4 PC performance, as claimed by Nvidia:
Image

Short version of what they say:
The 970 will play the game at Ultra settings 1080@60
The 980ti and 1070 will play the game at Ultra settings 1440@60
No cards quite reach 60fps at 4K. The Titan X is a almost there.

Some people have said that the rare "Insane" settings can be brought back down to Ultra (or High) to reach 60fps with the GTX 1080.

---------------

ReCore got a demo on PC, it says it allows to play the first 30 minutes of the game.

Such tests show the raw power which is the goal of the comparison. However, that picture doesn't represent the real thing as you don't need to have all settings maxed out to enjoy the game. In fact many settings do little and eat up frames like a hungry dog.

Definitely, this is the case for most games. That's why those "Insane" settings are probably not worth it. I typically prefer to use a mix of High and Ultra settings when playing games.

Aside of this: I just tested Quantum Break (steam/dx 11 version) for the first time. I genuinely didn't realize how poor performance was.
It offers 3 presets: Ultra, Medium, Low. I tried the Ultra preset with real 1920x1080 (Upscaling off): 33fps.
I tried medium with upscaling off: 41fps.
Low with upscaling off: 52fps.

Well now that's just not pretty. My card is an overclocked 390, which should be relatively equivalent in power to the 1060. Not being able to reach 60fps at low settings is not good.

So if GoW4 works with my CPU i can actually consider it, cool XD.
I really hope that for you bro!

Yeah, the performance of the game is so poor that i can't run the game properly at 1080p without activating the upscaling option... I really like Remedy but they did the poorest job this generation.

Some of those High/Ultra comparisons are so painfully minimal in difference, combined with the minor change in FPS, chances are you aren't going to miss anything by playing High. If you are an image quality whore sure you might do it to feed your mental condition, but like any game if you enjoy taking screenshots more than playing then you'll be enjoying those sweet 17fps.

I'm very happy that there are so many options to select from, any game which gives so much customizable choices is pretty ace in my books. Great job boyos.

Now to wait for an AMD report.

  • Gears of War 4
  • Mafia III
New AMD CrossFire profile added for DirectX 11:

  • Shadow Warrior

  • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided may experience minor stutter during gameplay when using AMD CrossFire mode or may crash when launching the in game benchmark.
  • The Crew may experience a random or sudden FPS drop while playing.
  • Battlefield 1 may experience flickering on some surfaces when using AMD CrossFire mode.
  • Radeon WattMan may fail to keep Power Limit settings after hitting apply in some cases.
  • Overwatch may experience flickering character models while in the hero selection menu or during gameplay in AMD Crossfire mode.
  • Paragon may experience flickering while using AMD FreeSync technology and AMD CrossFire mode in conjunction.
  • Pixel Format option is no longer missing for some Radeon RX 400 series products in Radeon Settings.
Known Issues

Some good news and bad news regarding the ReCore demo.
Bad news: people are having issues with the Store (shocker) and their timed trial ends before they get to actually play the game. People have had issues where the game simply crashes to desktop or remains frozen, launching in the Store, while their time depletes.

Good news: Another Store game that gets a bypass almost immediately. People download the full game elsewhere, install it through powershell, get the trial from the Store but don't install the trial, and then launch the full game. It allows them to play the actual game (at least until they close it).

Good news regarding GoW4 PC, from a review of the game:
With an Intel i7-5820K and Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti I was seeing frame rates north of 120 frames per second at 1080p for most of the game, with all the settings at maximum. The lowest drop I ever saw in the game was to 90 frames per second, and that tended to happen while it was loading assets.

There’s a reason for those numbers: Gears of War 4 is not going to push your PC very hard. It has moments where it looks very pretty, but I wouldn’t say it’s overall an incredible-looking game. Characters are soft and cartoony, and even maxed out with an 80GB install I noticed a few blurry textures and some weird blood effects. It’s definitely a console port, though one that has had an extraordinary amount of care poured into it.
Should be a smooth ride for everyone (or nearly everyone, we'll see how it works on Dual-Cores for Strike).

The movie to the Gears game was confirmed yesterday and tons of ultimate keys were given away but somebody f*cked up and something went wrong as the keys didn't worked and the ones that worked at the end were taken immediatly. Such bastards!

Me and Yeloazndevil were typing like crazy yesterday trying to get one lol.
