Very easy way to uninstall MSN

I done this through Windows XP home so I am not sure if it will work on any 9x based kernal or even 2k.
Press start then click on the "run" button and type in this:

Copy and paste it into the dialogue.

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Yeah, that's what I did too. I prefer to use Trillian, and it works much better.

delete your msn messenger directory.

But that leaves garbage in your registry.

and it will re install itself on XP anyway.

Go into your c:\windows folder and find a hidden folder called inf. In that folder is a file called sysoc.inf. Open with notepad and go to the line msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hidden,7
Delete the hidden, save it and close. Then go into add/remove windows components and uninstall MSN Messenger normally.

it does, but your registry gets "garbaged" soon enough anyway.

well, in the internet is a free tool called XP-AntiSpy. With it you CAN do some tweaks in the registry. One option is to uninstall Messenger. I love this tool. It can do my favourite tweaks in one turn (and let's you re-do it again).

There's an easier method. Switch it off from the messager settings in the group policy editor
