Do NOT buy Far Cry 3 Deluxe Edition on Steam

I was gifted the deluxe edition on 31/8 and noticed after completing it that I hadn't seen or played any of the extra content that is meant to come with it.

So I jumped on the Steam forums and find out that the is a MASSIVE thread with people that have the exact same story and have had for 2 - 3 months.

Contact Ubisoft as it's apparently a server issue from there end that only affects the Steam version of the game.

Me said:
I recently bought Far Cry 3 Deluxe Edition on Steam and none of the extra ingame content has been given to me. I have no Monkey Business Pack, no Lost Expeditions, no Warrior Pack and no Predator Pack. The only Deluxe Edition content I have received is the Survival Guide artbook and the game soundtrack. I have also tried putting the deluxe edition key into the "Exclusive Content" section of the menus but it just tells me the key is already in use. I would really like to be able to play what I paid for and hope you can resolve this for me quickly.

Attached below is my steam deluxe edition key code and the proof of purchase....

Regards Glenn
Finally 9 days later I now get this as a response even though everyone else is now being handed fresh keys to solve the issue...

Hello. Thank you for contacting Ubisoft Technical Support. In order to respond to this email, please update this incident (Please do not create a new incident). We sorry about the late response... Requesting you to contact steam and ask for a refund to exchange the game for something else. If you have any further queries or issues please do not hesitate to contact us again and we will assist you further.
Kind Regards, Ubisoft Technical Support.
Steam has refused to give a refund as they say its a temp problem that will soon be solved by Ubisoft (3 months doesn't look to temporary to me)

I am completely lost for words with the way Ubisoft has responded to my case.

Yeah, I did all that.

But honestly. I don't want a refund.
I bought the game as it is a great showcase for my PC and is a fantastic game to boot.

I don't want to give up ownership of it :(

No, the woman meant for me to get a refund and buy something else instead.
She was quite clear on that.

I said "Fine, maybe I should just go pirate the game so I can play what I paid for" after I got no reply from tech support for 9 days.

Here exact response in less then hour after sending my message above (pretty quick after 9 days of silence) was "Requesting you to contact steam and ask for a refund to exchange the game for something else"

Yet Steam refuses to do that saying "You need to contact Ubisoft for all support on this game"

I can now add about $30 in costs in phone calls to Ubisoft Australia in Sydney to try and sort it out and I STILL haven't got what I paid for or a refund.

Ubisoft seems only interested in stealing my money.

I have now removed all Ubisoft games from my wishlist, I will not be bitten twice by this thieving company.

Also buying the game again won't fix the problem as its an issue on the servers affecting the Steam version only.

This is actually the 3rd time I've bought the game. The first 2 times I bought it at retail and the key wouldn't work at all. (Key is already in use error)

Hardly surprising from a company that stole a RELOADED crack to patch their DRM infested broken game for legit customers. Kind of sad since they had seemed to be improving and they have some interesting IPs these days.

I think Steam are being pretty weak over this.

They advertise a product, and they then supply a product that is not as advertised.

If they can't sort this out with Ubisoft they should pull it. Or at least give a warning on the web-site.

If a retailer sells a faulty good it is (in my country) the retailer who has to deal with it.

But what do you do about this? God knows.

FINALLY got a response to my support ticket that wasn't just telling me to get a refund from steam 5 minutes ago and it contained a working key.

I still say BUYER BEWARE though as the issue is still there for anyone who buys the deluxe edition now or re-installs the game (after uninstalling it previously)

Hopefully they will correct the underlying issue for EVERYONE soon.

Cool.

Where I am the normal Far Cry 3 is ÂŁ20 and the Deluxe is ÂŁ25. But the DLC pack is only ÂŁ6.

So Far Cry 3 plus DLC pack is maybe safer at the mo.

Yeah, I think you are probably correct.

Ubisoft has now fixed this issue for everyone.

Sadly, it took almost 6 months of complaints to get them to do it.

You can be pretty sure I won't buy ANY of their games on Steam. Pinheads. I know I shouldn't say this, but part of me secretly hopes their games keep on getting pirated and their DRM circumvented as time goes on.
