I just really don't like how Gundams are legendary tech and how it appears to have gone Macross based on the first ep at least.

Haven't watched any more than that cuz I couldn't me bothered to try and find more based on ep 1 but perhaps if Strike likes it I should give it another chance I guess

Macross based ? I don't see that connection... Also if you would pay more attention you would have understood the bit with Gundam's being "legendary" tech, looking at the picture it looks more like a tribute to the first Gundam, in a way this looks similar to a world after the universal century fights have settled, but its being a bit evasive of that. Its legendary because mobile suits based of that design where superior and outstanding during the last war, but after the last war, people dropped arms including a lot of mobile suits, Asuno family, did kept however the data of them and improved on it in secret in time, that's the story behind the legend, kind of like an urban legend, i see nothing wrong with that approach.

PS: one episode to judge a 49 episode anime is kind of a wrong approach, based on my experience with anime unfortunately to see the full potential of a show you need to watch somewhat around half of it. Now this can be a pain when you end up wasting the time, but damn is it worth it when you didn't wasted it. Fortunately in most cases for me it wasn't a waste. Examples of this is for instance: Hitman Reborn.

Monsters instead of a normal enemy....at least they seemed like monsters in the first ep.

And yeah I know it's wrong just to judge on one ep...but that's not quite what I was doing. I just feel that the first ep should always give you a taste of what to expect so if the first ep does not seem in the slightest bit interesting or shows you a bunch of stuff which you know you don't like then usually you won't like the entire anime and vice versa. Now if I already have the show I'll watch it anyways but if I don't then I'll skip it and look for something else.

Also thanks for that explanation, I never realized those links (probably chiefly cuz I haven't seen UC yet :( ) and it certainly removes most of my apprehension about the show other than the character designs (and even the mechs seems rather small compared to the other Gundam shows I know) but that's not enough to prevent me from again being interested.
Interestingly enough to me it has seemed like the show adopted a retro style for no reason and and in fact had completely lost it's roots (with Gundams being mythical rather than the latest tech and the enemies being monsters) which is the very reason why I wasn't interested so it's almost ironic that it couldn't be further from the truth and is actually a tribute show.
But it being a tribute show and the Gundams being more of a lost modern tech than something from the middle ages that happens to be better than anything else out there completely changes everything. So thanks Strike, I'll make sure to get it.

No monsters, UE where mechs as well, you must've watched the first ep a bit jumpy otherwise i'm sure you wouldn't have mistaken those for monsters. And i do get where your coming from with the first episode bit, you are completely right, the first episode should give you a taste of the whole show, unfortunately that is not the case with anime... As i said i learned that from experience, getting back to Hitman Reborn again as an example, the first 20 episodes, are complete garbage for me, hell most of the show till episode 75 except a few episodes related to the main ark/story feel like garbage for me, but after episode 75 it got so good its even now one of my most favorite animes.

Actually usually it is the case with anime. I haven't watched that show yet but I'm pretty sure I would like it from the first ep. Even animes that faff around 90% of the time have a good first ep.

All an action show needs for a good first ep is action, after that one is hooked.

Oh wow...that really is lame. I do still plan to get and watch it at some point though. The screenshots and little clips and what I've heard all sound really interesting so in this case a lame first ep won't put me off.

Halfway done with Gundam 08th MS Team and so far it's been pretty damn good, I might actually like it more than Wing despite it not having any character as awesome as Heero... It's just more (sounds stupid, I know) "realistic" than the others I've seen. Just sad that it's so short compared to Wing, AGE and SEED(the other Gundams I've seen). I saw someone recommending Gundam 0083 in the comments of this anime so I might try that after I finish...and I couldn't find the After War Gundam X:(

Also found it funny that Kiki was seen naked while swimming but Aina was covered with steam in the mountains! But I still find it suprising that there were boobs in it at all, as I've thought gundams being kinda tame... Must be a 90's thing, stupid "morals" taking the boobs away!

^Awesome that it ended i do hope it gets continued i freaking loved it, its probably my favorite anime of this type still can't get op 5 out of my mind :p:

Well like i said the beginning is idiotic and most of the first 75 episode, but the rest transformed it into my favorite anime, when you plan on getting it drop a message first, i'll tell you what episodes to get and what not to get till ep 75, unfortunately you will have to go through some stupid first eps since they introduce some of the characters, but the rest not since they are just filler crappy comedy episodes that do nothing to character interactions, relationships or development i really mean it... so tell me when you plan on getting it to make you that list.

Nah, I watch all or nothing. Rewatches are different, there I'll occasionally skip stuff, but the first run has to be watched with every crappy faff around ep along with any awesome ones.

Anyways it will be a looooong time till I get to that show, this forum or at least my activity on it may even not be around then anymore (I'm talking years, quite a few of them, sooooooo much other stuff takes priority and I add new stuff almost every day).

Well finished the second ark of Gundam age and i must say that Flit became quite the:

Monster, i do understand the wrongdoings of the UE but he is just to extreme and blinded by hatred at this point...

Asemu felt a bit better in the end then Flit though there was a time when sunk kind of low, and just when i thought he had the power to mature beyond...

his father control and defy him it turned out he was just insecure....

Started ark three, sometimes Radix i'm wondering if i watch the same shows at you... At least from the first ep of this ark how is the 3rd protagonist annoying ? I mean he freaking jumps out of a moving vehicle in a war zone to save some kids... and actually manages to save them...

Also i noticed a pattern here, seems this show is even more of a tribute to UC gundam then i originally thought, first gundam shares similarities with the first gundam in UC (i mean the first gundam ever made), second ark gundam age-2 shares similarities and functions to the Zeta gundam and age-3 seems to be very similar double zeta gundam, giving this i have high expectations of AGE-4 which should derive using this logic from Nu-Gundam, one of my most favorite Gundams of all time. But that's not quite all, while it main forms during each ark is a tribute to a UC Gundam, its derivations seem to be tributes to other gundam shows.

Kio didn't seem bad at first. Later on he'll just turn annoyingly stupid and naive, I'll wait till you finish watching it before going into specifics. But I think there is a huge difference in how we see male characters, as seen in our quite different views on SEED. So you might not think him as annoying as I found him...but let's go there after you finish it.

shush your mouth folder-chan! >:|
Well, there's your answer, red.

Took somebody's advise and watched Strike Witches by imagining the characters in more practical outfits, and yup, the story was indeed quite engaging. It's too bad the terribad designs stop it from being a series that you won't be embarrassed to watch.
