Desmume is really getting under my skin.

When I first started it, it didn't want to save my files it all. Then, after deleting the ".ini" file, it would save ok. Got through trial one.
Then, my nightmare.
I have had to attempt trial 2 over 6 times already. I beat it once yesterday- but it didn't save it-- even though I had saved it in game. I had to start the case ALL over, even though there were TWO save opportunities I saved at prior- it didn't save either one. Then I tried again, got to the first save opportunity, closed out, opened- beginning of case again. Tried hitting enter to save in the middle- beginning of case again.
I've stopped allowing the ".ini" file to be made- since that seemed to be what messed me up in the beginning- is this my problem??

I would seriously love some help so I don't have to keep playing this case again.

um...the ini is essential to the emulator.....

I've also never experience anything remotely like this so I can only assume you're running it in some sort of special location that doesn't allow write permission the emulator or that keeps changing like when you run the emulator from it's archive.

So keep the .ini file? After I deleted it the first time it fixed my problem of no saving- it brought the file back. :/
And uh...I guess I can put it in a different folder or something? When I go to open it, I go into Winrar- is that possibly a problem? I thought I was supposed to do that.

No No No
WinRAR is an archive program which means you're running the emulator from an archive which means it gets extracted into a new temporary folder every time close it and then open it again, which is essentially like starting from scratch with everything from before being gone forever over and over.

What you have to do is extract the emulator to it's own folder like like for instance creating a new folder in your root C directory (or in simpler terms the place that you see when you click on the My Computer icon on the desktop and then click on your primary harddrive (it'll be C:\ something or other) and the folder/window that opens then) named DeSmuME for instance and then extract the emulator there.

The ini is what holds your personalized emulator settings by the way and and thus quite essential and will keep being recreated because of that.

So it works now?
If so glad I could help :)
