And if Sony or Microsoft would have made a controller like Nintendo's then people would have called them out on ripping Nintendo off. And hey, let's not forget about Mii vs Near~.

Really? Because Symphony of the Night is arguably one of the best Castlevanias and it's also a Metroid clone in disguise with a Castlevania skin. There's a reason why later entries were dubbed Metroidvanias, because it's basically the exact same thing you did in pre Metroid Prime entries. Yet I never saw anyone calling Konami out for taking an existing idea and enhancing it (or attempting to at least)~.
Like I said at the bottom of my post :
"it's a normal reaction to compare it to Smash Bros and wonder why they didn't try to make it a little more different"
That's the crucial part. There's nothing wrong with being inspired by others and think "I'd like to do something similar" but you should take that idea and improve on it, make it your own.

That's what happened with the Castlevania games. They took the skeleton of the Metroid games but after that, they took over and made their own game out of it. That's different from Sony's All-Star game, which simply changes the skin of the game but keeps everything else the same.

Also : I really feel like the comparison between the Miiverse and Near is thin. Miiverse does a lot more than what Near does, and it's not like Near was bringing something really new or unique to gaming, we've seen similar stuff before. There's a bigger link between the Miis and the 360's avatars.

As far as the Nintendo controller goes : you're now comparing completely different subjects.
We're now moving from controllers borrowing from each others to reach a similar goal, to having the ability to do different things again (as we've seen with Kinect or the Playstation Eye).

Honestly, this is just turning into nitpicking, and nitpicking always lead to a boring conversation.

As boring as bias towards a company. Like I said, I'm not impressed with Sony's presentation -at all-. They should've spent way less time jerking off with the Wonderbook or whatever it's called and more time showing games. That said, I prefer to pass judgement on something once I got the chance to try it out. The game looks too similar, of course. But calling it a rip off on looks alone is, in my opinion, too bias~.

Not unlike somebody who posted a page ago that the demo Nintendo showed looked like a Dead Island rip off to build hype. Until the game is out and people actually have the chance to try things out, they should refrain from crying foul~.

^This. My thoughts exactly.

I know now that there are 4 games I want to get as soon as they are released:

Assassin's Creed 3
Beyond: Two Souls
The Last of Us
Watch Dogs

Anyone know if they have unveiled Dead Space 3 yet?
AC3 looks surprisingly good.

I just watched Watch Dogs now...
...GTA's glory days are numbered
What does everyone else think about Dead Space 3?
It was disappointing IMO.

No they're not. Watch Dogs is targeted at a completely different audience and is basically a modern take on AC.

You can clearly see the AC formula at work. Get a mark, head to target location, sneak through without alerting guards, gather intel, locate mark, kill mark's guards, assassinate mark, escape. Most likely rinse and repeat a dozen more times.

If AC and Deus Ex:HR had a baby taking place in modern times, it would be Watch Dogs.
I don't expect the game to be big enough to really compare to GTA. But then again, maybe, since we see the game moving to a different character at the end. Guess we'll see.
It just seems unlikely(/impossible) considering the amount of detail they've put in one area, keeping that level of attention all over a town would take a huge amount of work. (If they pull that off : Ubisoft is a wizard.)

More Conviction than DX:HR.

Rocksmith : Bass DLC for the 4th of September.
New edition of the game that includes the DLC in October.
PC version in October.

They're also planning to release some songs from a "legendary band" which seems to be Queen.

All of those things make me wonder... Why didn't Ubisoft show Rocksmith during their conference? Considering how music seemed to be a part of most conferences, they may as well have had two people start the show by playing Guitar + Bass on a Queen song.

Seems like a missed opportunity.

The problem actually is that big N innovated again, as usual, and delivered relatively decent hardware, unlike what they did with the original wii.

This is gonna be serious for sony and ms. They had horsepower with decent gfx, now nintendo seems to have that and their typical game design brilliance.

Even if sony and ms put last generation gpus in their stuff it's still not enough to make wiiu look outdated. GPUs did not evolve that much in the last few years. It's not "radeon R100 vs radeon r520" any more. :p

It'd be hilarious if we get WiiU and PC exclusives with PS3 and 360 being cut out since they don't have the necessary power.
