This is my most recent design. It's been a while, I know, I always pick up a project but never finish it unlike back in the day. It's a gradient mesh of my girlfriend of 5 months, Jess. I haven't had the motivation to design because the past couple of years have been hard for me, a lot as happened, but I always have the desire in my heart to design, but not the motivation to take on big projects like I used to because of RL. I hope to finish it soon. I've spent several days to maybe a week on it and it's extremely difficult (anyone who uses Adobe Illustrator and knows of the Gradient Mesh tool can understand my frustration) but now I've almost mastered this once avoided, once despised tool that I was always intimidated to use. I always like a challenge and I've seen some amazing gradient mesh vectors, but I would always put the tool down almost as quick as I picked it up. It's not the best mesh out there, but I'm getting there. This is a WIP so I'm aware of certain unfinished/non-perfected parts/elements in the portrait such as the wrists, hair, etc... Let me know what you think so far. As with any detailed vector/gradient mesh artwork, it must be accompanied with the vector outlines as proof/bragging rights. I showed it to some noob who works at a sister sign shop in the area that I was working at temporarily because they needed an extra hand because they were backed up and he told me I should have done it in Photoshop because it would be easier and achieve the same effects in Photoshop and doing it in Illustrator was a waste of time. It's not about the ease, it's about the challenge and the rewarding feeling you get once you complete it without taking the easy way out. Doing this in Illustrator poses a challenge, plus, I'm not limited to resolution constraints like if I did it in Photoshop, if I want to enlarge this to billboard size, I can because it's scalable vector. Raster would not be useful in this case. So here you go. Do I still have it in me?
