Yeah, but judging from Kagamis reaction I'm not so sure Sousuke was willing a partner!:eek:nthepull Now I just feel like washing my brain with a turpentine...
Well, if the guy still makes a comeback, he freaking is immortal! If a 4th season ever gets made...

So, that an image of the characters in SEED? At first I'd say those are all girls, but as I've more or less gotten used to some level of anime androgynic drawing style, I'm pretty sure that the right one in black leather jacket is a dude, the top one is a chick and not really sure about the bottom one but I'm going to bet it's a girl too... Got it right?
You aren't used to the art style at all. At first glance I can tell all three of those are male even though I only recognize one of the characters.(didn't finish seed)

see what i mean :p
they're all guys; i didn't know this either until i met the characters though.
i haven't seen the character on the bottom yet, but he looks masculine due to the muscular neck.

also funny thing is even the characters themselves sometimes don't realize who's a guy and who's a girl. in the first episode there is a girl wearing a suit and a hat, and the main character thought it was a guy until her hat falls off

Watched the 9th episode of WING... And okay, Relena must officially be the dumbest character I've seen...

First she saves a guy from the beach who then runs away beating the ambulance crew coming to help him and steals their ambulance right in front of her face. Then that same guy rips her invitation letter in front of her, threatens to kill her, almost shoots her, commits huge terrorist acts(propably killing hundreads), almost squashes her with his mech. She is actually warned NOT to get close to the guy and she still goes after the guy even when he changes schools and most likely would also lead any people after the guy right to him as well because well, she did witness an assassination and she was almost assassinated herself but luckily for her the people in that world are morons and seem to have forgotten her...

So yeah, I'd say she's pretty damn stupid, but hey so seem to be the OZ and the Alliance so I guess it all evens out!:D

Damn there are stupid things in this anime, but hey some of them made me laugh... Like the weird exploding kamikaze attack that somehow does nothing to the guy doing it. Or well, it kills him but no external damage to him or the mech...
i lol'd
funny explanation; i never really thought too much about Relena's character. but yeh from your explanation she sounds like quite the idiot.
but you know how girls are; they're attracted to badass guys...

finished episode 10 of SEED. this has been the best episode so far.
I hope Kira ends up with the princess girl instead of Athrun in the end.
Athrun doesn't seem very interested in her from his actions.

For some strange reason with Wing and SEED (dunno if it happened in the past with other Gundam series) but people like drawing the chars as if they're gay...there's a lot of HeeroXDuo out there and a lot of Kira/ShinnXAthrun as well.
imo its definitely not strange to see a lot of KiraXAthrun fan-stuff; in the show they're portrayed pretty gay.

Kira is day dreaming of Athrun in the first episode, and whenever they leave each other after being forced to fight each other they're crying.
And Athrun doesn't even seem interested at all in the princess girl.

I know its supposed to be a bond between 2 close friends, but that can easily be interpreted as some boys-love fantasy.

I weep for the world.

If I ever had to fight against the guy I considered by best friend back when I was a kid in Primary School I'd cry every time we fought as well, I'd constantly be having dreams and flashbacks to the good old times and the time of his betrayal/our meeting after years apart on the battlefield.

If you have a really good friend then it's like they stop being friends and instead become your brother and now imagine having to fight that brother and his forces in a battle to the death trying to save your current friends.

It's heartwrenching stuff man, not new material for el sicko yaoi doujins.

Also Athrun isn't interested in Lacus as much cuz it's an arranged marriage, something forced on them both when they barely knew each other or what the arrangement actually meant, they're basically just going through the motions expected of them.

i'm not saying their actions aren't justified, but what i am saying is that there are moments in gundam seed that seem like you're watching a boys love anime.

imagine the case that Athrus was a girl for example. Then the scenes that take place could definitely be interpreted as some type of romantic love the characters have for each other.
the reason you're not interpreting them that way is because they're 2 male characters, you're straight, and you know the anime isn't boys-love.

but its easy to imagine that gay people (or women who enjoy yaoi) can fantasize about KiraXAthrus pairings from the way they act in the show.
anyways you can usually find a doujinshi for any pairing you want if its a popular anime. the otaku that make doujins can take any scene and make it hentai; if they want to make a Yaoi gundam doujin then KiraXAthrus pairings pretty much write themselves.

--------

anyways finished episode 12. i didn't really like this one.
i feel like the red haired girl is going to do something evil to betray kira in the future. i don't think she thinks of him as a friend, but instead as a tool.
i didn't like that they decided to join the military either. i think thats stupid.
kira finally was going to be able to stop fighting his friend Athrus, and then he decides to join the military with his other friends! this just means he's going to have to fight athrus again in the future...

long discussions on gundam it appears :p glad i found this thread instead of just using these forums for emulator stuff.

i never really liked wing for some reason... was only able to stomach about 3 episodes... seed was good, 00 was a bit odd but intresting in its own ways, and havent finished with Turn A Gundam yet(had never actually heard of this one till just yesterday) it seems like it would come before 00 but after seed with the designs(none of those GN particle emitters with the ever shiny build)

man episode 13 had something that surprised me:
When Flay kisses Kira. that was unexpected.
I can't tell if Flay is being sincere now or if she has ulterior motives and is hiding something.
In the episodes before this I felt Flay was going to do something really evil to Kira. Then i felt that she wanted to just use him as a tool. But could that kiss have actually been sincere? or was it a trick to make Kira keep fighting for them.
I'm going to guess that she's now being sincere, but if it turns out that she really is planning something behind the scenes that will make me applaud gundam seed for coming up with something clever.

Anyways episode 14 was a recap episode, but towards the end it told the backstory of how the Coordinators first started out which was kindof interesting; although it didn't go into too much detail.
it didn't talk about the scientist that actually started the experiment and what exactly was that alien-fossil thing they found in space!?

Also i really hate it when they have recap episodes but add new content in certain places!
that means you can't just skip the episode but instead you have to skim through it little-by-little and look for any new scenes.
really pisses me off when they do that...

edit:
watched episode 16:
man i can't say i like whats happening between Flay and Kira. She's using sex to manipulate Kira, and using him as tool. I guess i was right with my initial assumptions.
I wonder whats going to happen when her old fiance finds out what they've been doing. Oo
This can't end well ><

also i'm still rooting for Kira to end up with the pink haired princess in the end.

lol seems the experience is the same as mine till now. (well except for the thoughts on ep 07-08 :p).

About Flay:

Glad i'm not the only one impressed with the clever move pulled with Flay ^^.
Also the movie special shows in a bit more detail the "love scene"

As for the fossil better read this:

to take your mind of it its just a fossil nothing with deep meaning...

@Dante5986: Turn A Gundam is the conclusion and end series to all Gundam Shows, though due to the weird design and approach not all can stomach it.

does that mean the movie special is just a re-telling of the events in the anime then?

also that's a shame about the fossil, i thought there was something cooler behind it.
an outerspace fossil should imply something with aliens.

btw episode 18's ending was great:
after kira owns in battle, he b1tch-slaps that blond girl saying "What the hell can you protect with just your feelings!?"
it was awesome.

Yes it is but it has extra scenes, some names for instance you can only find out in the movie specials, there's also the scene where Lacus asks three times if she can leave her room .

lol true that, Cagalli did needed that.

also the part where La Flaga said it was mighty nice of the tiger though to let them live and attracts the angry gaze of every female their including Natarle made me lol (but the irony is that he was right), plus when Natarle hands a sweet to a child and all those kids gather around her

As for the comment relating the fossil, not really, the show is really great as it is, i can't see no way how aliens would have improved it, in fact it would have had the opposite effect...

lol yeh

actually episode 19 talks about the fossil a bit.
kira tells tiger that the fossil is supposed to be proof that extra-terrestials visited earth.
so my original comment that it was supposed to imply aliens was correct (i didn't mean the anime should show the aliens, i just wanted the anime to go more into detail of the significance of the fossil).

from what tiger said, the significance of it is that when humans found out about the fossil, it basically made them open their minds to the idea that they still got a way to go as a species. i guess leading more people to consider having their kids become coordinators.

also Flay is kindof pissing me off.
she uses kira. make sai get emotional/crazy enough to try to pilot the gundam. and now she's crying because she saw what sai was doing.
so she still has feelings for sai?
damn b1tch needs to make up her mind on what she wants to do.

also i've been thinking about it and, really what was the point in trying to make kira fall for her?
kira already knew that he had to protect the ship because his friends were in it. and never once in battle did he specifically think of flay as the reason he fights. so it looks like it was pretty useless.

Regarding the fossil sorry i misunderstood i thought you meant that it should have aliens, didn't realize you actually meant of going more in debt about the actual thing :p.

Regarding Flay:

imho there's a bit of misunderstanding, she didn't get Sai to pilot the gundam she broke the relationship up as soon as they got on earth before sleeping and making it official with Kira, it was Sai that could not take no for an answer, though it is true he had his doubts that she was after Kira for his abilities which is why he tried to pilot the Gundam, but all in all that was not Flay's fault.

Regarding the second part: When Flay's dad died she snapped, at that moment she hated all coordinators including Kira (a shock like that considering her carefree life is bound to screw up a person can't really blame her much) then she heard a conversation between Kira Sai and Milli that the pilot of the Aegis was a very close friend of Kira, although he did fight to protect the ship he also tried not to hurt others, especially Athrun and she did thought that he wasn't seriously fighting them cause his also a coordinator, Kira may have know it, Ramius and the other military staff may have know it but for Flay its understandable cause she knew nothing of war, of battles, so she thought that by making him fall for her, carrying for her more then for Athrun/coordinators, he would become the perfect tool of vengeance since he will protect her. In a way she was right since he did got more serious after she got involved and she was the one that brought to light the SEED ability within him (in episode 11 awakening sword, remember when he went berserker like and defeated Blitz, Duel and Buster, you will understand more what it is as the series progresses).

But all in all she isn't really that bad saying more would spoil things though :p.

i know sai went in the gundam by himself; but when flay saw what sai was doing, she runs away crying.

anyways i think she's a pretty selfish person and a manipulative woman.
in the beginning of the series she was affectionate to sai, and then when her dad dies she tells him that their verbal arrangement to get married was over since her father died; and she starts acting extremely cold to sai.
so basically this is implying all the previous affection she showed sai was probably fake.

then before sai can have a proper talk with her, she goes sleeping with kira.
and the whole reason everyone joined the military was because sai said he couldn't leave flay alone. once sai joined, everyone else said they'd join.
imo you can't help but feel bad for sai.
i mean i didn't like sai at first, but now i'm feeling bad for him. and even after knowing that kira slept with flay, i think he still cares about kira. i think part of the reason he went into the gundam was to rescue kira; because he overheard the conversation that Kira and Cagalli were missing.

anyways you mentioned the SEED ability. whenever kira goes berserk it shows like a Seed in his head opening up or something; now it makes sense why the show is called Gundam SEED :D, although i don't know anything about the power yet aside from kira owning his enemies.
also i believe kira would've awakened that ability w/o flay's influence.

Glad you're getting the same view on Flay as me cotton.
strike (this could get confusing lol) puts her on a pedestal that's totally unwarranted.

Before claiming victory schumi let the man finish the show :p, at first i didn't liked her as well... not that i liked that much after but as a character she's an interesting one and she's not that bad as you at least portrait her, also unlike you i dont think Cotton hates the character it self so much he would rather not have it in the show, she adds a certain complexity to the show.

As for Sai:

his a good guy but sometimes he can say some stupid hurtful coordinator remarks to Kira... As you probably noticed the only ones who don't give a f.. till now about coordinators and naturals are Ramius, Mu La Flaga, Tolle and Milli

hmm.
she does add a certain complexity to the show i won't deny that.
since i'm not done with the show, i can't say whether i rather her not be in the show or not.
i'm kindof leaning towards schumi's side that i probably wouldn't want her in the show; but if she was removed then they would need to add some other drama in the show to make up for it.
basically my issue is:
i rather her not have slept with kira. i really don't like when women use sex as a manipulative tool. and tbh i didn't expect something like this in a Gundam anime; Gundam Wing for example was not the type of anime that would have the characters do something like that.

its not an entirely bad thing however since it does keep me watching to see what will happen due to these events.
so although i don't like it personally, it is interesting and adds some complexity to the show that keeps the anime from being just-another mecha anime.

That's close to how i see it but...

i don't/didn't approve of the method she used at all as well (so don't get me wrong i'm not trying to cover for her), but it does make the show complex and keeps you hanging, also gundam seed ain't really that much a mecha anime, that didn't sound right... lets see... it has mechs, mechs are one of the main weapons used in the war, but the whole show isn't that much about mechs but mainly about war and how that influences peoples lives, how it can warp them, how it can strengthen them, how it can turn them into monsters, also again not that i approve of her method but the way the show is made if you try and think from her perspective you can't blame her all that much (again you can't blame her doesn't mean you have to approve i'm just saying you can sort of understand why she did that), one of the awesome things about this show is the fact that enough details are given that you can put yourself in one of the characters shoes, that is quite something, not many shows out their do that anime or not

PS: Finished watching Seitokai Yakuindomo, thsi is in my top 3 favorite comedies, it was just awesome from start to finish, hope to see more, also i just noticed i completely forgot about Highschool of the Dead rectifying that mistake now.

yeh i agree with what you said.

something i was going to mention is that SEED's fight scenes are kindof lacking.
they're not very fast paced, and not much happens.
only when kira goes berserk does the battle actually pick up and have cool scenes. but he only does this when he's in a pinch, so it kindof sucks that you have to wait through un-interesting fighting until kira finally goes berserk.

the other pilots of the gundams (like the white haired kid that scared his face) really suck at piloting there mechs.
its surprising that they're coordinators, yet they suck so much.
especially the first guy kira defeats when he first gets into the Strike.
kira didn't know how to fight, and yet he still beats that trained-fighter.

also the blond captain guy that always fights with kira... i don't think he ever does anything noticeable in the battles.

that said, the fight scenes have noticeably been improving throughout the anime; so perhaps by the end the intensity of battle will be good enough that the entire fight is full of epic moments.
