I finished the game on high and DX10 and then decided to try again at much lower settings and DX9 to get my frames up...and the game barely ran any better and I kept on sniping at people with invisible rocks in the way (Used binoculars and there's rocks, switched to weapons and theres no rocks...)

Exactly... That was one of the problems as well. For some weird reason, Crysis doesn't do LOD or occlusion the way other games do... It prioritizes humans over trees, then trees over rocks.

So you'll see a human first, then trees, then rocks... Whereas if you try to hit a human, there would obviously be some sort of invisible tree or rock in the way...

Hmm, I haven't played at lower settings and wouldn't know. I just know that after all the horror stories I had heard since its release, I found Crysis to be a rather optimized game when I finally played it. The only issue I had was that it consumed my 2GB memory making the final level impossible to play. Otherwise the game ran much better than the recent Splinter Cell game, and visually it is a lot more impressive. It definitely raised the bar for games, but right now it still looks better than anything released recently AND manages to keep a higher, or at least a more stable framerate.

You're probably thinking of Crysis Warhead, which is not Crysis 2, but rather a spin off of Crysis. It doesn't continue the story of the first. It actually happens during the same time as the first, and simply let's you play through what another character (Psycho) went through during that time.

I personally found the framerates in Warhead to be more consistent then the original Crysis. In the latter there would be wild fps swings from 5-60.

Things were marginally better in Warhead.

New date set:

Crysis 2 set to wreck New York's shop on March 22, 2011

We learned during EA's investors briefing that the super-pretty, skyscraper-toppling FPS Crysis 2 had been pushed from its initial holiday release window, and would instead arrive during the first quarter (January to March) of 2011. The game's new release date was recently pinpointed by the official Crysis 2 Twitter account: March 22, 2011 for North America, and March 25 for Europe. Or, in other words, just about as late in the first quarter as it could possibly arrive.

Joining this announcement was the release of the first screenshot depicting the game's multiplayer component, posted above. Though it's hard to extrapolate much from the single image, it looks like everyone's going to be wearing bulletproof armor, which should make your standard deathmatch a rather lengthy affair.

Hope it'll be the last date set.

You can't wait for the bankruptcy announcement, or the game?

I bet it's looking mighty interesting now that it's doing something new. Decayed New York full of alien robots trying to kill you, and totally not a Resistance or Gears of War clone. :innocent:

I really hope the new wrecked-city environment they're going for doesn't restrict the open-endedness the 1st one had. Definitely the game's biggest selling point for me.

There are certain levels in the first half of the game which I've beaten at least 30 times. The replayability in the game is enormous for a FPS.

Well at least from what i seen from the vids exploration/routes are going to be quite something the city isn't going to be a limiting factor:

Can't find the video now but i remember one where they said and show that if you want to you can go via buildings on the road pretty much design your route how you want to.

This. I've said before that this is what made Crysis, and Far Cry (of which I consider Crysis the spiritual successor to, and Far Cry 2 be forgotten), what they were in their best. I partly blame consolitis for it, but I'm holding out for a half decent (albeit "different") game. I can still go back and play even Far Cry (not 2) and be in awe at how much replayability there is, and that even extends to the visuals a bit too.
